Amid Widespread Panic, Hope in the Corporate Sector
Hacked by: Gilbert Reed, Corporate Sector Authority
Date: Year 17 Day 189 Location Unknown

Neelgaimon, Neelgaimon Alpha City - Media outlets across the galaxy became inundated in recent days with reports of widespread layoffs of workers and other non-essential personnel throughout most of the galaxy's businesses. Panic began in earnest when a galaxy-wide accounting system mostly thought to be derelict and outdated suddenly kicked in and began warning business managers of wages owed to their personnel. With a prompt regard to the bottom line, these owners and managers turned to their Personnel Resources departments to rectify the situation of a potential worker strike, lock-out, or walk-off. In turn, each of these departments began undergoing a massive review of their workforce and subsequently came to the conclusion to lay-off a significant portion of their workers, with some departments even going so far as to lay off 1,500 workers at a time. In the Corporate Sector, though, not a single pink slip was issued to workers, prompting much speculation by these media outlets over why none were issued.

A review of accounting strategies and policies put in place by the leadership of the governing corporations within the Corporate Sector reveal an efficiency nearly unparalleled in the galaxy. Each vacancy in the job market is filled with the most qualified candidate and thereafter any personnel not employed has a place of employment created for him or her. In striking contrast to many areas of the galaxy where jobs have reached a point of equilibrium or are on the decline, the market for employment in the Corporate Sector is therefore ever-expanding. In addition, Sector employees are able to transfer from one location to another in these corporations allowing not only for the free exchange of goods and services between territories of the corporations, but also allowing the territories to adapt to a stable employment-to-jobs ratio. Where job seekers wish to emigrate from the Sector, employment is found for them elsewhere often by the use of what is dubbed a "Retainer Transfer." These transfers may be seen from time to time on the Centrepoint Marketplace and are often a relatively inexpensive way for outside interests to attain some highly qualified, specialized personnel of their own.

Added to the aforementioned strategies, the governing body of the Corporate Sector, Corporate Sector Authority, has recently come to an incorporation agreement with two new start-up companies, Aeyris and ViskCor Laboratories, whereby an increasing number of vacancies have opened in a very short time. Incorporated on day 179 and day 185 respectively, the new start-ups seek to expand the economic prospects for residents of, and immigrants to, the Sector by creating new infrastructure projects and then utilizing that infrastructure to broaden the market for the Sector's goods and services. The companies are set to break ground on their projects within the month and have begun seeking potential workers for their projects already.

Just as the prospect for new work is opened, so too the benefits afforded to new employees have also expanded. Housing and other welfare projects for the over 6 billion inhabitants of governed territory since the inception of the Corporate Sector Authority government has led to rapid immigration of the Corporate Sector. A recent poll done by Galactic News Services shows immigrants are mainly swayed to come to the Sector by the striking difference in advertisement between the Sector's companies and other galactic businesses and stay mainly due to the well-being assistance programs available to them. These programs have recently begun to extend to family members as well, precipitating in a dramatic increase in residents, all of which have found employment if they sought such.

So, while a sudden panic sets in for many galactic businesses, the economic potential, both personal and professional, within the Corporate Sector provides a light in the darkness. Personnel can be secure in knowing that the Great Galactic Layoff will not impact them at all and that, in areas governed by companies of the Corporate Sector, their lives, dreams, and desires are all being attended to with care.
