Crimson Syndicate HQ, Hiigara North -- Weeks after Crimson Syndicate revealed some of the more prominent members that defected from the New Republic, followed shortly by the defection of Kara Dumonte who fled to the Galactic Empire, Director Adam Hughes of New Republic Intelligence decided to take action. He organized an assault with Jasper Merlyn’s former superior officer, General Darcks Galvan. General Galvan, who held the positions of Orion Battle Group Executive Officer, Deputy Speaker of the New Republic Senate, Chief of the Military Liaison Office, Commanding officer in the New Republic’s Special Forces [Formerly known as New Republic Military Intelligence] and public New Republic Intelligence officer, led an assault with the orders to bring Jasper Merlyn back to the capital city of Republica dead or alive, regardless of the cost, and sabotage their intelligence network that has several databanks containing intelligence on the New Republic and its various departments.
When recently appointed Thane of Intelligence Dimitri Halden heard of the plot, he notified Jasper Merlyn immediately, allowing Crimson Syndicate to set up a retaliatory ambush for General Galvan upon his arrival. Immediately from the start, General Galvan’s forces were overwhelmed from the ambush, and surrendered without casualty. The assault team was searched and processed into holding cells, with the exception of the senator who was brought to Jasper Merlyn’s quarters for intensive interrogation. A worried wife, Kairi Merlyn, immediately took off to assist Jasper Merlyn in the general’s interrogation, while Thane Halden secured the area and set up defenses for any rescue attempt made by the New Republic.
The news of General Galvan’s failure reached the capital, where it was met with chaos and denial. With the apprehension of General Galvan, this may force the New Republic to initiate emergency elections to replace the seats of Kara Dumonte, Darcks Galvan and Eleonore Silvermoon. This comes mere days before the New Republic Senatorial elections were supposed to begin. New Republic Intelligence is refusing to comment on the failed mission.
General Darcks Galvan currently remains in personal custody of Jasper Merlyn, until the ruling council of the Crimson Syndicate decides on his fate. It has been discussed that General Galvan should get a taste of the New Republic’s Justice System, and organize a trial based off the Republic’s laws. Some of the Ruling Council think he should be executed for his treasonous attempt, while others suggest using this as an opportunity to prove that Chief of State Chran’s pledge of putting his officers and citizens first, is nothing but an empty, hollow, promise to maintain power.
Jasper and Kairi Merlyn were available to comment regarding the thwarted plan via holocron. Jasper was quoted saying “ This must be the promise Adam made me, that I would be tracked down by New Republic Intelligence’s finest. I was General Galvan’s deputy in the Military Liaison Office for quite some time, and I admit it pains me to see a friend go turncoat and lead an assault against me. If I didn’t know better, I would say that this mission was planned to fail from beginning. Let’s look at the facts: Senator Gryffyn Grayurra, has stated on numerous occasions that the senate should be dissolved, an ideology that is shared with Deputy Chief of State Tengri Lethas. The Senate has a very high turnover rate. Roga McBea, Kara Dumonte and Eleonore Silvermoon(to name a few) resigned before their term was concluded, Senator John Callaghan went missing without a trace and an investigation to his disappearance wasn’t opened up, and now Senator Darcks Galvan, the Chief of State candidate with the second highest votes, is sent on a dangerous mission to try to apprehend me? It seems like New Republic Intelligence and Orion Chran are trying to kill the New Republic Senate. Between Adam Hughes and Eleonore Silvermoon, it would appear that deputy director of New Republic Intelligence must serve a term as a senator to build in influence. All I can say for certain is don’t be surprised if Chief of State Chran tries to manipulate the constitution and recent defections to make the New Republic into a totalitarian state.”
Mrs. Merlyn concluded the interview stating “Regardless of if Chran and his conspirators are attempting to dissolve the senate and give him ultimate authority and control, or whether they are just deploying assault teams to try to intimidate and silence former citizens who reveal the corruption of the Republic, democracy is dead. Crimson Syndicate will continue to be a safe haven for those wrongfully persecuted.“
