Tion Hegemony and Black Sun End Conflict (Posted by Typhon Corbin on Year 10 Day 297)
Tion Hegemony News

The Tion News Network logo appears in bold flashing colors, the tell tale sign that this is breaking news. The logo quickly fades to a beautiful human female wearing formal clothing who is identified by the screen as Tion News Correspondant Jalel Wendin. She is standing in front of an ominous-looking palace on in the midst of several military and industrial facilities. She wastes little time in announcing the topic of today's important political news update:

"Jalel Wendin reporting for Tion News Network. I'm standing in front of the palace where earlier today officials announced that the long and unpopular cold war between the Tion Hegemony and the Black Sun has come to a peaceful end.” She pauses for a moment before adding, “What you are about to see is the official address that  Lord Adviser Talen Mordare presented to throngs of happy Tionese citizens outside the Niddion Capital Building in the expansive capital city.”

Talen Mordare

The screen fades to an image of Talen standing behind a podium, his backdrop is a beautiful mixture of colored glass, weathered stone, and fine craftsmanship that is the Capital Building. The sounds of a crowd around two hundred thousand strong can be heard cheering for him, as they know him to be the driving force behind the recent industrial boom and extensive diplomatic progress. As he begins to speak in that they all respectfully quiet down;

“Having met with Vigo Tar Alaks regarding the conflict between the Tion Hegemony and Black Sun, we have both agreed to put an end to this unnecessary war. It began for all the wrong reasons, and while the Hegemony does not condone or support any criminal organizations or activities, we are pleased to put an end to future bloodshed and wasted resources.” he intones. “The war was controversial from the start, having been initiated by former Chief of Security Coeus Ahlstedt. This individual founded the Silhouette security group, which offered its allegiance to the Tion Hegemony to assist with intelligence and security work. The Hegemony accepted Silhouette’s pledge of loyalty, unaware of Ahlstedt’s true nature. It wasn’t until after Silhouette had begun staging unauthorized attacks against the Black Sun crime syndicate without permission from the Hegemon that the layers of corruption began to unfold.”

Coeus Ahlstedt

He looks frustrated as he moves on with his speech, “The combative actions between Silhouette and Black Sun reached a boiling point when Adam A. Flynn was removed as leader of the criminal organization. In response, Ahlstedt’s paramour was publicly executed. It was at this point that the Hegemony became aware of Silhouette’s secret dealings and ulterior motives for the war. Coeus Ahlstedt was found guilty of falsifying intelligence and evidence in order to pursue a personal vendetta against Black Sun. Upon learning that the Hegemony had discovered the truth about Silhouette, Ahlstedt fled in a personal space craft before an arrest warrant could be issued. Simultaneously, he ordered his agents to act against the Hegemony, resulting in the destruction of several ships and the loss of several crates of surplus construction materials before security forces arrived. Silhouette quickly dissolved.” Now Talen speaks even greater intensity, “Coeus Ahlstedt was nothing more than a criminal and a traitor. His abuse of power in the name of the Hegemony is unforgivable. It is unfortunate that he was killed before our operatives could bring him the justice he deserved,” Talen pauses for a moment and looks more reserved as he states, “the damage his legacy bestowed upon our government has today been lessened, and the Tion Hegemony and the Black Sun may now move forward in peace,” Talen smiles and the crowd cheers wildly. The picture quickly cuts back to Jalel Wendin in front of the palace, where hours earlier the announcement was made.

“While old tensions may still exist between the Tion Hegemony and Black Sun, current polls show a favorable reaction to the cessation of conflict. By many, the end of this war is seen as the final step in calming the turmoil caused by the radical militant group Silhouette and their treacherous former leader. Regardless of political opinion, all seem to agree on one thing: the end of this war has been long overdue. Jalel Wendin, Tion News Network. Goodnight.”
