Black Sun Reaffirms Control of Kiffex; KLA Loss is Shockball’s Gain (Posted by Drexel Skorzeka on Year 10 Day 329)
Black Sun Divides and Conquers

The recent consolidation of planetary authority from the Kiffar Liberation Army and its prospects for a global peace appears to have been short lived.  Officials from the KLA and other civil groups have reported that the Black Sun Criminal Syndicate have used the recent civil war to ‘divide and conquer’ the Kiffar the population in order to re-affirm their own presence and direct control over the planet.

Governed for decades by foreign powers, Kiffex is now reporting another state of martial law as Black Sun agents have descended in increasing numbers onto the planet’s surface to impose curfews and consolidate control in major population centers.  The KLA, having defeated its more conservative opponent the Ruahkks faction, has now been ousted from control and many of its ranking members exiled from Kiffex.

Fighting between KLA forces and remnant Ruahkks forces in the northern tribal regions has abruptly ceased in the face of a common threat and while both factions have attempted resistance to descending Black Sun forces, they have been steadily defeated by both Black Sun’s advantage in numbers and technology.

Eyewitness photographs have captured some of the victims in the wake of Black Sun’s descent onto Kiffex.

Several eyewitness accounts have also emerged detailing atrocities committed by the Black Sun’s force sect, the Maurari.  Led by Ourtai Ol`inesh, the Maurari were among the first Black Sun forces to descend onto Kiffex.  Ol`inesh has publicly affirmed the Maurari’s ‘cleansing’ of Kiffex which initially targeted prominent Kiffar individuals and have since widened its targets: “We are the Máurari and it was we who cleansed the streets of Kiffex' cities. The training of force adepts requires supplies of fresh bodies and Black Sun has been most indulgent in allowing us to harvest from their planets. As you may know, three of us drew blood on the planet, Ingo R. Vailis, Jacen Malorm and myself, killing those who resisted and rounding up the rest. The unfortunates that you speak of have been loaded into holding tanks on our ships. Those willing to cooperate will be sent into the mines and given a chance to earn their freedom, the rest are bound for the training arenas. The local Kiffar population has proven quite malleable in giving up its dregs for our purposes and I expect the same will be true of the next world we visit. As for your ‘KLA’ - the affairs of minority groups are not our concern.”

Subcomandante Drexel, leader of the KLA’s paramilitary wing, has confirmed the expulsion of the KLA from Kiffex.  “We survived the Old Republic attempts to turn Kiffex into a penal colony.  We survived the galactic civil war.  We are a race of warriors and survivors, we will survive the shadow upon Kiffex that is the Black Sun.”

Exiles, Refugees Find Haven in Tapani Sector

The plight of refugees from war-torn planets and exiles due to political shift have been a long time occurrence and by-product of galactic politics.  Recently, the mass-exile of Kiffex from Black Sun control as well as the Chalcedon Dominion’s shift of sovereignty to the control of the Falleen Crown has seen the displacement of millions of sentients from their homes.

Recently exiled spiritual and political leader of the Kiffar Liberation Army, Artemis the Roi of Clan Chatillon, has opened his personally governed planet in the Tapani Sector to refugees and Kiffar Exile alike.  In the past several weeks, 2 million sentients have already settled on the planet Alisandor seeking refuge from the turmoil of their home planets.

A Warrior Changes Venues

In the historical trend of diasporas from Kiffex, the Kiffar people have long been associated with carrying their cultural warrior lifestyles into mercenary trades.  The loss of Drexel Skorzeka as the KLA’s paramilitary leader has become an addition to the lineup of players for the Colonial Shockball League.  The Outer Rim Conference team Onslaught, out of the Kabal System, has just recently signed the former KLA Subcomandante as a winger for their upcoming season.

Onslaught signs former paramilitary leader as Winger.

The addition of Drexel to Onslaught’s lineup was not without political controversy relating to his recent string of insurgent mercenary activity since leaving the KLA.  Allegations of performance-enhancing drug use by the Onslaught Winger, however, attracted the most serious scrutiny.  The allegations, first raised by members of Echelon, out of Kal`Shebbol, were promptly denied by Onslaught Owner Kabal Shryke.

To address the matter, Galactic Sports Association CEO Aces Israel announced in a press conference: “The Colonial Shockball League and the governing power of all sports in the galaxy, The Galactic Sports Association, take these accusations very seriously and have tested said player multiple times for many different substances. Drexel has been very cooperative as have the Onslaught throughout this investigation. It had been made clear that the results were negative on ALL of the aforementioned tests many weeks ago.”

The Galactic Sports Association has however been under scrutiny for accusations of narrow definitions of performance-enhancing drugs.  Critics point to the recent announcement by Rancors owner Locago the Hutt that his players “came out 100% positive on ‘many different substances’ check performed by CSL.”  None however, were deemed performance-enhancing.

Locago the Hutt commented: “I'm happy my team does everything to win, that's what I pay them for!” Asked about health risks such malpractice may carry for the players, his response was: “It's a trade-off, you either live a long healthy life as no one or become a shining star of CSL and die in your mid-30s. Besides, health concerns are the reason we sign contracts only one season long!”

Preseason exercises have already begun for many teams.

After a period of renovation, the Shockball League has returned with eight teams divided between the ’Core Worlds’ and ‘Outer Rim’ Conferences.  In a twist of irony following Drexel, Onslaught is Captained by Black Sun member Saitam Oralev. Onslaught’s first scheduled match of the upcoming season is against Supernovae which hails out of the Endor System.
