Due to the latest ban, I have to answer some questions for all you. Unfortunately, many have not read through the rules, and do not know about how things work around here. Here is a quick overview of the rules in Life and Death. Please, everyone take a look, and see what they are. If you have a suggestion, then please see the Suggestions Forums. And a PS here about the daughter's wedding comment... its a movie reerence, Godfather trilogy, Vincent's name? Comon, stop wishing me well and asking for pictures of the bride!
- When a character dies, all equipped items drop to the ground at that position.
- Any credits owned by the dead character are deleted.
- Ships, vehicles, space stations, facilities, items, droids, and NPCs with a pilot/operator/supervisor assigned will be transferred to the pilot/operator/supervisor.
- Ships, vehicles, space stations, facilities, items, droids, and NPCs with no pilot/operator/supervisor assigned will be transferred to the commander/manager.
- Ships, vehicles, space stations, facilities, items, and droids that are not assigned at all go to the market.
- Cities go to the market.
- NPCs that are not assigned to anyone are deleted.
- Raw materials are transferred to the owner of the entity in which they are contained.
- Stocks are transferred to the Faction Leader.
- If a character dies in an explosion, such as flying into a sun or by exiting hyperspace, then everything on board the entity is destroyed.
- Entities assigned to the dead character but owned by another party remain the property of their owners.
- If a Faction Leader dies, leadership will be transferred to the 2nd In Command (2IC). If there is no 2IC, it is transferred to the faction member who has the next highest privileges rating. If there is more than one person with the most privileges, one is randomly selected.
- If a Faction Owner dies then his faction ownership (or stocks) will be transferred to the Faction Leader.

Bug Fixes & Tweaks
- Fixed an underlying issue with CGT and the leap years fix applied last year. As a result we've gone forward three days. Faction dissolution timestamps have been adjusted to compensate.
- Fixed a bug where items in a construction site were not moved and instead remained underneath the facility. (2645)
- Fixed an issue where faction members with 'Change Privs' could change the privs of the 2IC. 2IC's will no longer appear in the list of faction members whose privs can be changed. (2647)
- Fixed a bug where clicking on "Crewlist" or "Passenger" on the cockpit would load it into the entire page instead of the designated frame. (2649)
- Fixed an issue in the wording of assign and unassign events in inventory. (2651)
- Fixed a bug where there was no error throw when trying to filter on a filter with no value selected. (2665)
- Fixed an issue with the wording on the Space Stations Transaction sheet. (2677)
- Fixed a bug where you couldn't change the leader of a faction to a handle that is now invalid. (2683)

- Entities named with multi-naming will now appear in a natural order (eg: 1, 2, ... 10 instead of 1, 10, 11, ...).
- Fixed a bug where Lab facilities weren't display any production and datacard related information in inventory.
- Fixed a bug where events weren't being sent when crewlists were modified.
- Fixed a bug where NPCs building stations would report incorrect locations. (2702)
- Fixed the terrain restrictions on the two new podracers. (2703)
- Updated indexes in the DB that should fix the occasional error people were receiving when placing cities.
- Tweaks to the inventory colour bar generating code so it now produce colours that make the overlaid text easier to see.
- Character avatar URL limit increased from 120 to 255 characters. (2709) - Fixed a bug resulting in planet control not being made over when Include Contents is used in the city inventory. (ID #2650)
- NPC Inventory Events will now display the type of NPC in the event. (ID #2151)
- Changed the equation that works out the processing time of Bacta to Alazhi as suggested on the forums. - Fixed bug preventing stocks of dead characters to be correctly transferred to the corresponding faction leader. (Bug 2653)
- Fixed wrong faction type being used in government reversal event. (Bug 2695) - Fixed a bug that allowed forum posts in a closed thread.

Yes. All one person. Thank you, Kal Fisto, for being the first Permaban for the week. Ladies and Gents, do NOT recreate thousands of times or multiple characters just to become Force Sensitive. It's not worth it, as you can plainly see. It is a breach of the Golden Rule, and as I have my eye on others, and the Admin is making a set in stone rule on this soon, just keep it in mind.
Second on our permaban list is Natalya Blue, for hacking a player's account.
Now for the jokes.... None. I'm too pissed off that people that knew about these crimes didn't come forward and tell me. Next time, I'll just not ban, and let them destroy the game for all of you? Work together, and we can put an end to the tyrany! Viva le resistance!

Yeah, thought as much. From today (24th June) until next Wednesday (1st July), the NPC team will be allowing SWC members to have two of their NPC musicians renamed as long as they have at least 10XP. Yes, we can check these things, so, no lying or we’ll add you to our new naughty-list!
The renaming rules are as follows:
- You must have the NPC musician(s) you wish to rename with at least 10XP - that’s basically walking them 10 squares on the city slab of your choice.
- The NPC can either be given the choice of being:
1. Example: Joh “Fingers” Lowza - using a nickname in-between their current first and surname.
Or
2. Example: Sy Snootles - They can have a race-sounding/looking name that can be their name or stage-name.
No Tupac Ewoks!
To clarify: No real-life or canon musicians’ names can be requested, we will check and if you have decided to be facetious and ask anyway, you will be added to our naughty-list, which in-turn means that you could possibly be banned from future renaming projects that the NPC team will be holding.
Now, onto those with the power to make these changes. Please only contact one member of the team for your request, since numerous requests sent to all members usually causes us all to look up the same NPC, wasting our time and possibly stopping us from getting your NPC renamed as soon as possible, resulting in a loss of time for us all. We are players too, and that Ryll shipment won’t move itself!

Due to the extremely high number of new characters joining, and recent questions, I wanted to make a short statement.
When joining the Combine you are told numerous times to choose your name, race, and skills wisely, as there is no going back. There has been a large influx of emails pertaining to "deleting my current character", or "reseting and starting over." This is something that will not, and cannot be done, as it would interfere with the In Character balance. Furthermore, an Out of Character agenda to make a Super-race or reseting on a weekly basis would make the game more like a Halo 3 Legendary Map game, where everone is Hyabusa Spartan, or whatever. The SWCombine is kept inline to make it as realistic, to a SW universe, as possible. The SWC would not sustain if we reset characters on a whim.
To reset your account, there are only In Character ways such as arrest/execute. There is also a three week recreate wait perriod from time of death, until you can start over again. My only advice to you is talk to some of the veteran players of the SWC, whom have had the same character for 5 years or more. They played the character they started with, fleshing him out, developing him more. That is the way of the real world, so it is in the game too. You don't go and ask your parents for a reset do you? Well, if your emo you probably do, but thats besides the point. |

The Development Team is currently seeking interested persons, to join the Star Wars Combine development team. Please note that players who are interested are not required to drop their characters, and may continue to enjoy the game, and experience first hand their contributions to the game.
The following skills are required to become part of the team:

- Ability to follow directions
- JavaScript Knowledge is a bonus!

Do you like CPs? Do you want more? Think you're a dab hand at designing GUI's? Then we've got a job for you!
We're going to try something a little different and offer up a CP bounty for any player (or group of players) who can design and build the interface for our new NPC Speech system. We'll pay a minimum of 100,000 CPs for the player(s) that design and code a speech GUI - more if the job is exceptionally good.
We're looking for a finished GUI at the end (HTML + CSS + JavaScript, etc), not just a mockup of the design. Knowledge and use of PHP is not required. The design will need to be simple and user friendly enough for all players to be able to use it with minimal help text. It should also be aesthetically pleasing.
The Details
The backend code to process and insert the speech trees is done, we just need an interface that will generate speech tree strings that our code can parse.
See Speech Instructions and Speech Tree Example for instructions and an example of the tree that your interface needs to be able to generate.
Note that the nodes on the tree need to be able to loop around. Example: You can choose from A, B, or C at the first level of the speech, then you select A, get answer A1 and are presented new choices: A2 (End Speech), B, C.
A winning design will need to be able to both create speech strings and consume them. ie: You should be able to use it to create a new speech string or load in an existing speech string and edit it.

Thank you all. I mean that. This week has been fantastic, with the much needed help for finding accounts that are illegal, and registering the others. I said in that self glorifying post that I would be banning some of the illegals or unregistered by Friday. I havent had to ban anyone, and that makes me proud to be a part of the combine. My inbox was flooded with registry emails, as were the Join Requests page. There are a few who I want to have register up, as you are new and I'm in a good mood, that have been given a reprive and benfit of doubt.

With a poor attempt at an eye-catching Sim News title out of the road, we’ll get on with the actual reason there is a post.
Today marks the release of the new NPC type, the Musician NPC.
These new NPCs will cost 10,000 credits (each) to hire and will be available from Casinos, Taverns and Temples. It is hoped that in the future, when we are able to put a cap on how many NPCs can be hired per facility, you will be able to hire a musician NPC from a park, much like hiring a busker - after hearing their musical talents.
With that said, we’ll be launching this month’s NPC renaming project around this time next week, which’ll be based around your newly hired musician NPCs, giving you at least a week to hire your new entertainment; more details will follow then.

Now, for the sad part of this post. I regret to inform you that due to real life happening with cats in Florida, USA, I am dropping that from my multi/Ban punishments. From now on every time I ban I need you all to go on IRC and give Seele a huggle.

Do you believe how cool that Avid Soyak guy is? He's giving notice publically that by Friday, June 19, 2009, he will ban all the multis that come up that morning, by about 10 EST! Amazing! He's so nice, he's even asked that anyone who's recruiting, say from schools, work places, etc, give him an email to be put on the list of Possibly Legal Multi Recruiters. I mean, comon! How cool is this guy, when he sends out DM's or emails asking multis for explanations about being a multi and giving so many people some leeway and the benfit of the doubt before banning.
I heard he also has adopted atleast twenty kittens, swearing never to nail another one to the door unless these multi's in question come clean. Well, I bet ya that this guy has a heart that ten times bigger than anyones! He's even getting ready to release, pending the rest of the Admin Teams approval, for the punishment/ban time table for infractions in SWC. This guy needs to have a planet named after him, I tell ya!

- Tweaked the 'Kick a Passenger' button. It will now only kick idle NPCs, Droids & Creatures from entities. Additionally, it will only work if the entity has no more room for passengers. (2611)
