- Added achievements for completing NPC Transport and becoming a faction leader or 2IC.

Bug Fixes & Tweaks
- Fixed a bug where checking if you could mine was failing on the commander check in some cases.
- Shop purchases, NPC transport and NPC shuttles are all available through the 'Actions' button, while we wait for NPC scripts to be released.
- Searches on the forums are now able to display more than one page.

Ever notice that a Wildlife Preserve is a 20x 20.... yeah, where are we going to put the Power Generator for that? Well, fixed this debacle by stealing Veynom's batteriesd from his IRC holopad (the takeover begins! shh), and shunted them into a big tree in the middle of the Preserve! Now its a bit easier to build them, eh? 

Dev Meeting 2010 Conclusion

It has been a busy but wonderful week. It would be impossible to summarise everything so I will try to focus on some key aspects.

We started by reviewing our 2009 work, discussing what went well, what did not, and why. We agreed on the fact that 2009 was definitely a productive year with more completed projects than not and it would have been almost perfect without the server stability issues we ran into during Q4. The PDF of the presentation is available here.

Based on these facts, we concentrated our efforts in three areas. First of course, game development. With combat approaching and our well-known economic situation, we had a lot of discussions, assesments and mechanisms to analyse. We effectively divided these gigantic topics into smaller projects that were sequenced and prioritised. We then concentrated on our player base with topics ranging from retention rate improvement, players satisfaction, and support. Finally, we concentrated on some extremely technical aspects regarding our current development and production architecture. Among other tools, Clarr presented us with a Virtual Machine setup of the Combine which allows developers to develop more quickly and safely.

Finally we took the conclusions or each topic and started drafting our next targets. Each target has been transformed into a project and carefully sequenced into the development paths. Priorities have been defined and a plan could finally be drawn. However as the number of projects filled more than a year, we decided to create a multi-year plan with more details being given to 2010.


So what is the bigs news of 2010 ? Well it can be summarised in one word: Combat.

All of combat ? Not really. Creatures combat to start with and up to PvP combat if everything goes according to plan. By PvP, we mean a character and his party against another character and his own party. A video presentation of the different projects and targets will be made available in the coming days.
