Bulletins From the Galaxy

Marriage Bridges Gap of War and Law

In an uncommon act of unity in a strongly divided galaxy the daughter of Imperial and Sith aligned Myn Kuat has been engaged to marry Bren Morgarr, former President of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances and on the list of the Empire‘s active bounties for several charges including treason and aiding the enemy.

Myn Kuat, owner of the Imperial ship production faction Kuat Drive Yards also holds positions as a Director within the Empire’s Ministry of Industry and holds rank as a Sith Lord. His future son in law, Bren Morgarr, is described by his Imperial bounty profile as: “Former Viceroy of the Trade Federation and Confederacy of independent Systems. And former Imperial pilot. Deserted the Empire and became a 'reputable' trader, despite numerous thefts within companies he worked for. Later joined the Trade Federation and upon rejection of a treaty with the Galactic Empire attempted to disrupt Imperial operations.” Morgarr has since spent a term as President of the GFFA, a nation of self-proclaimed neutrality while sources in the GFFA report that he has since moved on to the Triumvirate Coalition in Centrality.

Despite the enormity of the political and criminal obstacles the marriage has proceeded as planned, according to sources in the Morgarr house. The marriage itself rose out of the traditionally conservative background of the Morgarr family which practices the tradition of arranged marriages. Through common social networks that included some pro-Imperial families, an arrangement was produced upon Bren’s twenty-third birthday that, unbeknownst at the time, arranged marriage between him and the daughter of the Kuat patriarch. The identity of the Kuat daughter has remained hidden.

Hapan, Falleen, Intelligence Cells Exposed in Troubled Company

Arkhan Heavy Industries, a company specializing in the production of heavy-cargo freighters, recently suffered a crippling loss at the hands of Eidolan pirates which saw the loss of several freighters from the AHI fleet. The pirate strike is reported to have been orchestrated with the help of the private military contractor and Kiffar Angela Skorzeka and resulted in the loss of not only ships but also the captivity of their captains after AHI refused terms of ransom for their release. The scope of the damage is presumed to be the motivation for the release of its long-time Director, Starenska Eyona, recently replaced by Draven Diesel.

Upon the appointment of Dravel Diesel however, unconfirmed allegations began surfacing within intelligence and investigative journalist circles that Draven himself is at the head of a private intelligence company that had been working alongside an intelligence cell of the Hapan government within AHI.

A source privy to the clandestine inner workings and identified only as ‘Shepherd’ confirmed further that the Hapan cell was under rogue direction of Lord Zayth Kadrim operating “without the sanction of his King” before Kadrim stepped down recently promoted Draven to leadership. Since Draven’s term of leadership however the cell is said to have fallen into disarray.

The cell operating alongside the rogue Hapans was interestingly identified as an organization known as ‘Thunderscape’ operating as a front on direct behalf of King Bisz of the Falleen Federation. The motivations behind such an unlikely alliance, as reported by ‘Shepherd,’ was made with the intention of targeting and disrupting the intelligence network of the criminal syndicate Black Sun.

Spokesman Fel`ta Locke of the Hapan Embassy denied having any knowledge of the events. The relevance and relation, if any, of the Eidolan attack on AHI and the clandestine activities within the company, is unclear.

Breakdown of Former Corporate Direx Member?

Following the recent forced nationalization of the Corporate Sector Authority under the Empire, former Direx Board member Paparrin was said to have embraced a solitary and nomadic lifestyle, living frugally among the densely forested ground of the planet Kashyyyk.

A recently aired interview with the former Direx Board member raised concerns and speculation regarding the mental state of Paparrin. In the holo-feed, a scruffy and somewhat agitated-looking Paparrin discussed galactic events with the interviewer, though with varying levels of coherency.

In the interview, Paparrin rallied against the current political and economic atmosphere, describing the New Republic, Falleen Federation and the Galactic Alliance as “people with power to change things but choose to dip their heads in the sand.” The Empire did not escape unscathed from criticism, Paparrin claiming “it’s useless to discuss the Empire.”

With a gleam and mischievous smile hinting at his former popularity and leadership within the CSA, Paparrin hinted that “…people will remember who took care of them, and who didn’t when the time comes.”

Asked if he was on drugs, Paparrin’s reply, with the same smile, was: “that is possible.”

The Shocker. Volume I Edition IV

Team Turmoil Brings Changes

After a distasteful and unexpected loss to Kabal Onslaught in week 3 Rancors owner Locago The Hutt decided it was time to wield the axe and bring significant changes to the sideline. In a swift move he announced that Wuma Uxal-Lumir would replace Rho Galfona at the position of Team Captain. “Instead of training how to be a team, they stare at her all session!” Continuing, “I need a Captain who won’t tolerate slacking off and I believe Wuma won’t fail me. It would be best not only for the team, but also for him not to fail me.”

When approached by reporters concerning the promotion, Uxal-Lumir replied in a somewhat diplomatic tone. “I don’t think that last weeks loss is the reason for me being appointed captain of the team instead of Rho Galfona. She is an asset to the team and for coming match it’s my turn to lead the team.” Implying it was merely his turn to lead as opposed to Locago’s statement that the replacement was for a specific reason, Uxal-Lumir continued, “Locago is always looking to improve the team setup to get the best results. Last week changes weren’t as successful as we hoped so this week will see some changes. We intend to take revenge for last weeks loss. So Crushers, be warned. It’s Rancor feeding time!”

Adding further to the situation ex-captain Rho Galfona put forward a very neutral response indicating perhaps that she is not all that happy with the owner’s decision: “I don’t know how I should feel about it. From one side it is good to be the captain. However being a captain means that I should be the best in the team, and I’m apparently not the best. If Wuma has been made a captain there is a reason for that.”

Asked about the loss itself Locago The Hutt refused to comment. Our source at the governor’s court says the Rancor’s owner lost millions of credits at the gambling office because of the match resulting in a fury rarely witnessed by his employees. There was plenty of blame to give around but finally it was pinned on training failures and unnecessary luxuries players were given.

In other news, Amaran Holl, Lothbo Rancor’s training coach, is reported to be missing. Rumors of his body being found out in rivers of Lothbo spread on the holonet but Lanthrym Goverment officials refuse to comment on such a rumour. League Marshall Maryk Dreikyyn plans to begin a probe into the activities of Locago Tai and his handling of the team affairs. Maryk states that he has to make sure he is “thorough” to ensure that nothing is left out of his detailed report.

Juiced Player Identified

Following on from last weeks story of a positive result on a drug-test performed by the League Marshall, it has been confirmed that the player in question was Crusher’s player Zerk Nor.

Once identified, a summons was issued immediately for Nor to report to Galactic Sports League corporate headquarters for a hearing. Upon the arrival of the escort party, Zerk Nor, rather then face the consequences of his actions, jumped the nearest starship and speed off into orbit of Calivir. Unfortunately Nor had chosen the banned substance Yarrock, a particularly nasty variant of Spice. The last anyone heard of Nor he was careening towards the Rigel system sun shouting into the on-board communications panel, “You will never catch me....Ohhhhhhh....shiny!”

Week 4 Sees Surprises Galore

This week the TransGalMeg Industries League brought with it the first conference cross-over round of the season. In what had been billed by certain fans as a good indicator towards how the finals would shape up the round certainly lived up to expectations, although much to the dismay of Core Worlds Conference fans.

The first match-up of the week had been marketed as too close to call with the Kalev Biologic Engineering Core World team Corulus Rangers facing off against the Cybot Galactica Outer Rim Kabal Onslaught. The punters clearly felt the same way with few single bets actually placed on this game. Overall however, the Rangers were more fancied by the punters taking up the new “Package Bets” system. What followed though no one saw coming.

The Onslaught blew the Rangers off the court taking a well deserved 42-14 victory. No Rangers players were willing to comment however it was later reported that Team Owner Troon Kebris and captain Dac Kain were seen arguing heatedly in the team’s locker room after the match. While no-one knows the specifics of this altercation it was also reported that Kebris - taking a holopad out of his locker - waved it in front of Kain then threw it against the wall. It is assumed that contract negotiations for Kain to remain a Ranger next season may be on hold for the moment.

Onslaught though were more than happy to communicate with reporters after the victory. When asked about the manager of the opposing team Onslaught owner Kabal Shryke replied, “Troon who?” After a brief moment of uncomfortable silence a sly smile appeared on Shryke’s face before he responded: “It was a good match. The guys and gals played well and kept to our game plan. We held one quality team down and won the game through our team work and tenacity. Troon has his boys playing hard, we just had their number today!”

The next match of the week saw another mouth-watering prospect: Flares verse Supernovae. These two teams attracted the most bets this week with neither side a clear favorite which made it totally unfathomable to explain what happened. The Flares never turned up and thus forfeited the match.

Supernovae, while thrilled with the ‘win,’ were disappointed to not get the chance to get more points after they had to settle for the 34-0 ‘default’ score. Fans at home were the most upset. After settling in to watch an action packed Shockball match they instead had to settle for a rerun episode of ‘The Nights of Our Sentients.’

When asked what happened, The Shocker obtained mixed responses from the Flares players. Flar Gar responded to questioning, “We regret we were unable to attend the game. The Flares had to attend a compulsory attendance meeting.” Other players though didn’t see the light-hearted side of the situation. One player who wished to rename anonymous stated, “We failed to show up for the game because we were protesting the failure of Vee Null (team owner- ed.) to announce a Captain, enlist a manager, or even give of a semblance of guidance for practicing and training. His failure to take an active part in his team has dropped all morale from the team and could even be said to have caused our previous two losses after our promising start.” There were more punishing words for owner Vee Null to come: “Our team’s locker room is quiet for a majority of the time and we rarely have anything come down from the top. We just aren’t operating as a team and we need at least a manager who is willing to interact with us and guide us on our training.” With tensions between Null and his players apparently reaching critical condition and with all players yet to be re-signed for next season, Vee Null could find himself in a most unenviable position unless changes are made quickly.

The next match saw the Crushers taking on the big-talking Rancors. Much had been publicized about the apparent team disharmony coming from the Rancors camp and this had given hope that perhaps the Crushers could get a victory for the KBE Core Worlds Conference. Unfortunately the Rancors managed to take the match in a well-fought 39-22 victory. Team owner Locago the Hutt beamed with pride after the match, declaring “We’re back and better than ever!”

Coming off the field, the Crusher’s players had their heads down again except for last week’s big accuser Jiddo Habibula. Looking more relaxed this time he accepted to comment on the match with a smile, a distinct difference from last week’s response: “They played well, and they played fair... and won!?” Jiddo said evenly. “I can’t really say anything about the game as they outdid us in first and last period and we got screwed for good. But this time at least, we had the opportunity to play” Jiddo said with a wink, recalling his accusations after the Crusher’s defeat to the Rangers. “I think we’re on the right way to become a good team. We played together, we scored a bit more, we blocked a bit more.” After these comments his smile turned somehow more sour: “We still have someone going sissy, and I don’t like that. See?” His comments were backed up by the recent scars from tackles. “This is how da [sic] game is played. You run, you sweat, you hit and get hit. Then you can win or lose. But there’s some(one) that did not bring their lust to the match and we’ll be probably addressing this soon enough. Watch out for when we exit the lockers, you could be lucky and get something good!”

Rumors hint that a furious fight was going on inside the Crusher’s locker room with a lot of yelling, shouting, and some nasty noises that hinted at broken furniture. After all quieted down the first to get out was ‘Big Mouth Habibula,’ as he has been nicknamed. Jiddo showed a new prominent black eye and a few more bruises than before having gone in to the showers. “Well, we had stuff to explain to someone…” he said laughing heartily, “and if that someone had brought the same fury on the field we would be celebrating a win instead of mourning again. Alas, I, hmmm, think I’ll have to refund them (Rancors) on something, as I think I smashed a couple of lockers and a door. I blame my blackened eye that made me, stumble, a couple of times and miss my intended target, I mean, Bah!” he declared before leaving. Some minute after these words Jaran Youngstar, Crusher player, was brought out on a stretcher, still barely conscious and unable to walk on his own. Other players denied anything “bad” had happened and that Jaran was probably just tired after the match. Further investigations brought to light that Jaran’s “tiredness” caused him to be reserved a bed at the local hospital with a long and accurate medical scan session to make sure about his health. It is also believed League Marshall Maryk Dreikyyn will be investigating this matter further.

The real shock of the round came in the final match with the all-conquering Wildcats meeting the hapless Echelon. Interest in this game seemed to be low with viewer ratings barely rating a mention. The Wildcats were un-backed favorites during the week with their odds at one point dropping to 1.10. All this though was to no avail as the Echelon sealed a clean-sweep for the Outer Rim Conference with an upset taking the match 29-26.

Ellias Aubec, owner and, so it seems, manager extraordinaire stated, “My master plan is coming to fruition! Now we have lulled you all into a false sense of security it’s to the top we go. Or more likely it was blind luck, plus some new tactics we threw in there.”

Effects of this loss rippled throughout the entire league. Some questioned the commitment of the Wildcat’s players after last weeks remark from Kal Jeriko “It’s not the other teams doing better, its us not trying as hard because we know we can win.” Rangers captain Dac Kain was left speechless when hearing the news that the team his wife owns suffered their first loss of the season. Onslaught Guard Drexel Skorzeka was left just as bemused commenting: “Oh Kittens, a loss to Echelon? Really?! Reeeeeally?!” Perhaps Rancors owner Locago the Hutt summed it up best: “It makes me warm and fuzzy inside to see Meerec Kittens lose to the worst team in Outer Rim Conference. If they are really the best team from Core our next 3 matches with that Conference will be piece of cake!”

When Wildcats owner Mia Kain finally arrived at the after-match press conference she was immediately berated with questions pertaining to the loss. When asked how she felt about the huge upset she curtly replied: “It’s not a huge upset. Maybe in your book, not so much in mine.”

As always, check out the latest CSL action at http://csl.galacticsportsleague.com

Black Sun Strikes Again

Black Sun, the galaxy’s most well-known and feared crime syndicate, made headlines again today after it used what it described as a “willing pawn” to steal a significant stash of extracted raw materials and haulers from the self-proclaimed “government” of the Xappyh sector, the Independent State of Neelgaimon (“ISN”). Earlier today, former ISN Praetor Karl Korne knowingly seized ownership of ISN’s entire hauler fleet and raw material stockpiles being used to build up population centers in Xappyh for ISN’s plan to be legitimately recognized by the rest of the galaxy as a galactic government.

In a private interview with Tar Alaks, Vigo of Black Sun, he revealed that the looted assets were transferred into the possession of Black Sun, and in fact the entire plot was masterminded by Black Sun as retribution for Korne’s previous attempted betrayal of the Black Watch several months ago.

“While crippling the ability of ISN to expand their presence in Xappyh was an added benefit for the operation,” Alaks explained, “it was not our primary objective. The message behind this attack has two parts. First, if you ever so much as think about betraying Black Sun, you will regret it for the rest of your short, pathetic life. Second, we are everywhere; there is no one we can’t reach.”

Alaks later revealed that Korne had been promised a prominent role in future Black Sun operations for execution of the project, with Korne apparently hopeful that the Family had forgiven his past transgressions. When asked for details about Korne’s betrayal, Alaks was dismissive, stating “the details are irrelevant; the message we’re sending now is clear.”

Galactic citizens, still reeling from Black Sun’s recent coup over The Antarian Rangers, again expressed concern over Black Sun’s seemingly limitless influence throughout the galaxy; Neelgaimon citizens appeared particularly rattled by this recent attack that hit so close to home. Alaks once again assured all citizens of their safety, though added “as long as they stand behind us.

A plain zeltron new reporter sits behind a small black desk in a generic new studio.
"This is Trek Calington here with today's news update," the male zeltron announces in a soft voice. "In the north outer rim of the galaxy, not long after the dust has settled with The Antarian Rangers merging into Black Sun, Vigo Alaks sent a message of diplomatic negotiations to a collective of ex-Antarian Ranger members who have formed their own group. This group is denouncing the merger. They have stated that the merger was an illegitimate operation born out of Black Sun greed.

"In the message Vigo Alaks spoke of several ships that were obtained in the merger that contain several ex-members who are apart of this nameless group. Alaks said he would let all those on board the ships go if the group gave over codes needed to access mines on the Black Sun world of Yevnersid."

As the reporter reads his next on the autoque, one can tell by the reaction on his face that his opinions are strong on this matter. Out of both character and standard reporting practice, he turns in anger towards another camera. "Now I'm no economic specialist and we've all heard the tale of the Nova Crystal production fiasco, but when did a hole in the ground become worth more than the lives of a few fellow sentient beigns?" he demands sharply.

"Even Vigo Alaks assumed this collective to have maintained the morals of The Antarian Rangers, that a few mineral mines would not be valued above the lives of their members. Apparently during their defiance of the merger these people have left those ideas behind. It is a sad thing for me to say, but with each passing day that falls so does the integrity in the governments of this galaxy."

Trek pauses as he is shouted at through his earpiece by someone off stage. He then resumes with the written story.

"Our sources tell us that the group is refusing to accept the offer from Black Sun and have cut all communications. We can only hope a quick remedy is found and the stranded sentinents may soon go home to their families. That's all for this new break. Please don't forget to check out the Galactic Holo Network special 'Ewok Mating Rituals Uncut' tonight at eight." Trek says with his characteristic salute as the studio lights fade to black.

Black Sun joins the Galactic Alliance

By virtue of its recent acquisition of The Antarian Rangers, Black Sun has secured a prominent seat within the Galactic Alliance after assuming all of TAR’s existing diplomatic contracts. The acquisition signals a change of tactics for the notorious crime syndicate, which has typically used shadow agents and high-level Family members to covertly infiltrate organizations. Tar Alaks, Vigo of the Black Sun and newly appointed Black Sun ambassador to the GA, discussed the unusual nature of this brazen acquisition in a press conference held shortly after the GNS flashnews picked up the story:

“While Black Sun has earned a reputation for nefarious schemes and back-room dealing, our decision to acquire The Antarian Rangers to join the Galactic Alliance highlights our disappointment with the leadership and direction taken by the so-called ‘galactic protectors.’ Our aim is to bring balance and keep things on track. As founding members of both the Galactic Alliance and the New Republic, Black Sun's senior leadership is happy to retake a prominent place at the forefront of this alliance they forged.”

Ambassador Alaks's address was met with confusion and fear from GA citizens, who had “previously been led to believe that the Black Sun was an enemy of the GA.” Ambassador Alaks indicated that his first order of business within the GA would be to dispel this “vicious rumor,” and assured GA citizens that the Black Sun has always had their, and all galactic citizens, interests at heart in all their endeavors, despite what he called “blatant misinformation spread by those jealous of the Family’s galactic influence.”

When asked what other measures Black Sun was likely to pursue within the GA, Ambassador Alaks expressed concern over the GA’s recent treatment of its “allies,” citing both TAR and The Jedi Order’s inability to obtain what the New Republic insists is “restricted technology” even after their release of the technology to Black Sun proper. He added that “the New Republic’s resistance to sharing technology even with its allies has long-been a severe oversight and, frankly, an appalling security policy. Our second order of business within the GA will be to secure access to this ‘restricted technology’ for both TAR, which is now part of Black Sun, as well as the rest of the members of the Alliance who have been forced to defend themselves with technology that pre-dates the empire.”

In his closing remarks, Ambassador Alaks addressed the potential that certain groups may oppose the voice Black Sun has now obtained within the Galactic Alliance, stating: "To the other minor villains of the galaxy, the ones puffed up looking tough, we know you are phony. Go hide in your forts; be petrified. We are everywhere; we are coming."

Apparently still in shock over recent events, neither GA nor New Republic representatives were able to be reached for comment.

Travelers, left to die, saved by Aperture Science

Travelers, left to die, saved by Aperture Science

A mere few days ago two travelers, Melron Taldik and Jaced Neray, were doing research on the gas giant Adinai, located in the Lianna System of the Tion Cluster. They were researching the possibility of transmuting several recently discovered gasses into physical materials, particularly the highly wanted and sought after Varium.

After a few weeks of studying the material at hand, they encountered a second ship, also there to research these gasses. After contacting this ship, they reached an agreement and decided to share their information. They docked with the other ship, and visited the other team.

However, the other team wasn't planning on giving up any information, and instead stole their research and ship, and threw them into the gas giant that the duo had studied for so many days. With nothing but old vacuum suits held up by duct-tape, Melron and Jaced feared for the worst. They could hear their oxygen escaping from small cracks in the suits.

Soon they got sleepy due to lac of oxygen, and all hope of being rescued slowly faded. Luckily Meldron had a medical insurance from Aperture Science, who immediately detected his vital signs change for the worst, and rushed out to the gas giant in their specially customised YT-1760, appropriately named “The Saviour”.

When arriving at the point in space where Meldron and Jaced were floating, medics rushed out in space suits to pull them into the shuttle dispatched and ready to treat them. However, Jaced was not insured, and despite attempts of Meldron to convince the Aperture Science employees otherwise, they could not treat him.

"As Meldron was lowered into the bacta tank aboard The Saviour, he thought about how lucky he was to be insured, and what to tell Jaced's wife. After all, he did tell Jaced that it wasn't expensive, after all, his cousin Eric Tarkona works as the head of the Billing Department of Aperture Science, and got him a 50% off. If only he took that insurance."

Eidola attacks Trade Federation, robs Ministry of Defence

Following the declaration of war against the Trade Federation for refusing to cut its ties to the Imperial Remnant, Eidola hit hard this week, successfully targeting its Minister of Defence, Deputy Minister, and other members of its military hierarchy.

In the past seven days, the Eidola Pirates have robbed Minister of Defence Kage Renbukai, Deputy Minister of the Interior Nohv Schiller, and officer Keomilan Zaxor. All three of them were believed to be facing reprimands, and possibly the loss of their positions within the group. As GNS correspondent Dominic Tramiss questioned last night on his talkshow "How can anybody trust a so-called TRADE Federation that doesn't know not to trade with Teniel Djo?"

The most embarrasing point for the Trade Federation however, occurred when Minister Of Defence Kage Renbukai, a Sith Lord, began pleading for the return of the stolen money - offering to betray the Imperial Union to save face. He offered to do favours for Eidola, to funnel them TF technology, and at one point even suggested he would lobby for the Trade Federation to sign an alliance with Eidola if only the money were returned. Finally he agreed to assign a Victory Star Destroyer to Eidola in order to have his money returned. As far as the Galactic News is aware, Eidola did not use the VSD for any great notorious purposes, but the simple fact that the Minister of Defence would lobby to ally with pirates, and assign his fleet's warships to Eidola in order to have his stolen money returned...certainly raises questions about just how desperate the Trade Federation must have been while scouring their ranks for a suitable Minister of Defence.

Last year, the Trade Federation announced an immediate ban against entering any trade negotiations with the Eidola Pirates, after a string of their members lost hordes of credits to the brigand crew. Six months ago however, while violating his own trading ban, TF leader Jacob Jansen managed to get robbed by Teniel Djo - after believing he had been offered a "too good to pass up" scenario. Similarly, Trade Federation envoy Joni Yuma was robbed, her planets stolen, and her bloodied corpse nailed to the wall of Warlord Squall Chitose's personal residence. Although the ban against dealing with Eidola was ostensibly put in place to protect minor members of the Trade Federation, it seems the Eidola Pirates do not target the junior members and it is perhaps the Ministers, Deputies and High Command of the government that needs stern reminders that Eidola does not play nicely with Imperial Remnant lackeys.

The Shocker ~ Edition III, Volume I

Sponsorship Drives CSL Forward

This week saw the beginning of corporate sponsorship for the CSL. Numerous bids were offered for the various areas of the league, with the best of the bids being taken. What this means for the CSL is that its future is secured.

The monetary value of the sponsorship, while adding to the CSL management fund, has also swollen the league’s shared revenue - a revenue which is shared among the teams at season end.

CSL is pleased to announce that TransGalMeg Industries, has signed a long term deal for primary sponsorship of the League which will expire at the end of season 5. TGM Chief Executive Officer Jim Firewalker, said in regards to this deal “I have always loved Shockball, but now that I am getting a little older I don’t think anyone really wants me to be playing the game anymore. So I figured if I can’t play, I would have to do something to keep active in the game as best as I could.”

In other sponsorship news, Kalev Biological Engineering (medical arm of the Tion Hegemony) and Cybot Galactica each sponsored a conference allowing for conference champions to receive a nice reward for their season long efforts.

Kobola, Mecrosa and Xucphra did not miss the band wagon either with this conglomerate opting to sponsor the Player Awards, which will be held in a special event at the end of the season.

The final piece of the sponsorship puzzle came with InterGalactic Banking Clan’s backing of the CSL Gambling Office.

Championship Name Announced

CSL Vice-President Nat`rhon L`uukh, today announced that in conjunction with TransGalMeg that the Championship would be known as “The TGM Super Clash.”

League Marshall Gets a Hit with Random Drug Test

Rumors abound currently that newly appointed League Marshall Maryk Dreikyyn, has identified the first reported user of performance-enhancing substances. While the League at this time is unable to comment for legal reasons, it is reported that the owner of the team involved suspected a problem was arising when the player in question turned up to training minus any clothing on his lower extremities.

It is unclear at this point what ramifications this will have for the player and team but the fact that the team owner requested a random test for his entire team should see the team avoid any punishment from the league. Marshall Dreikyyn only had this to say: “We are investigating.”

Week 3 Brings Mix of Surprise and Expectations

The weeks games commenced with the Kalev Biological Engineering Core Worlds Conference where the Corulus Rangers hosted the Calivir Crushers. The Rangers having failed to win in any games thus far this season seemed to be facing an uphill battle. Riding high from their win over the Flares last week, Calivir were favorites for this match-up. In somewhat unbelievable fashion the Rangers managed to turn their fortunes around and smash the Crushers 58-11. This game from the Rangers was the best defensive effort yet seen in the CSL, eclipsing the previous record held by the Wildcats, who managed to keep the Crushers to 12 points in their opening match. Not everyone though was impressed with the increased defensive effort from the Rangers. Crushers Player Jiddo Habibula had this to say just after coming off the field: “I can’t believe they got through with it, man... they played dirty. And were ALLOWED to! That ref allowed them every nasty trick with a smile, and they totally made use of his favor by wrecking havoc! I mean, I know it’s their home and home team are somehow favored. But this is just ridiculous, I just wonder why the ref did not force us to leave somebody at home and play with only 1 or 2 people on the field. Totally rigged, man! I’m pissed !” Pundits are wondering if it is possible that the Crushers can overcome this apparent lack of scoring ability as well as plug their defensive holes as they are now -86 in their points differential in only three games.

The other game in the KBE Core World Conference saw the Meerec Wildcats again show their dominance with a tough fought win over the Pelentar Flares. The win by the Wildcats see them now as the only team to have won all three of their opening games and sitting pretty atop the conference. In a tight first period the Flares managed to go to the break, up 4 to 2, before the Wildcats returned to the field and ground out a 39-22 victory. Serious questions are being asked of the Flares. After such a promising start, their team seemed unable to keep up with the pace set by the high flying Wildcats. Local fan Gizmo Maverick lamented his teams fortunes. “Why can’t the owner dip into the market and buy us some more players?!” The fans beginning to turn on their manager will only add to the pressure already on Flares owner Vee Null, after last week a private locker room incident came to the public’s attention with Flares player Archon Romanus stating in an interview: “Either way I still blame our loss on Ran (Vee Null).” Meanwhile the Wildcats continue their cocky ways as Kal Jeriko put on record, when asked why the Wildcats had not scored as many points over the past two weeks as they did in the opening round, “I think we are resting a bit, biding our time so that we can be sure we beat the Rancors who seem to be the only other decent team in the league. It’s not the other teams doing better, its us not trying as hard because we know we can win.”

The first of the matches in the Cybot Galactica Outer Rim Conference provided the upset of the week. Kabal Onslaught, ranked as Conference outsiders and totally written off by fans and punters alike overcame the odds and buried the Lothbo Rancors 26-16. A tremendous effort saw the Onslaught finally live up to their potential, controlling the game from the beginning with a steal just after the opening buzzer and setting the mood with a bench-clearing brawl early in the first period. A lot was expected of the Rancors this game with the Onslaught failing to even attract one bet in this weeks betting. However as Rancors player Wuma Uxal-Lumir said during the week, “In shockball only deeds count.” This philosophy was taken to heart by the Onslaught as they stopped the big-talking Rancors in their tracks. The punters are now wondering how the Rancors will bounce back from this so-called “loss from the mouth of victory.”

The final game of the week was also billed as the match of the round as the Kal`Shebbol Echelon were hosted by the Endor Supernovae. Nothing separated these teams throughout the week as only a hair separated the odds. In the end though, the Supernovae proved too strong, bouncing back from last week’s loss to take this weeks match-up 39-17. This loss leaves the Echelon now as the only winless team in the entire League. Pressure is mounting with rumors star player Ragnos Deott is the transfer target of another team in the league. One would think that if the Echelon were serious about re-signing their star that they will quickly need to turn around their on-field results.
