Fortunately besides people breaking multi rules we don't really get many cases of bug eploitation, and kudos to the admins that are on top of it and punish those that do exploit the bugs
How ever I do have throw up a small query as to the punishments as from the last 2 cases of exploitation that I am aware of the punishments do not seem to fit the crimes.
1st. Isoldor Storm exploits a bug and creates 3,400,000,000 credits for himself, that is a huge amount and an amount that can unbalance the whole game.
2nd. Lorin Stormfury exploits the cp bug and gets a few hundred cp's from it. Bad move on Lorins part but not something that will hurt the game on a grand scale.
Both did the wrong thing and both were punished but this is where I have trouble in understnading the punishments.
For creating 3,400,000,000 credits through a bug Isoldor Storm gets a one month ban, for creating a few hundred cp's Lorin Stormfury got a 3 month ban and asset removal (which happened to be all his assets at the time).
To be honest whilst it is the admins call to dish out the punishments I got to say judging by their crimes and the times that these 2 characters got, then either Lorin was done over big time with an incredibly harsh penalty or Isoldor's penalty is some what pathetic in comparison.
Maybe we can look at some set penalties for future infractions of the rules, maybe a 1 2 3 strikes your out policy.
What ever is decided I do think that punishments should fit the crime and in this case I am sorry to say but I don't think it has.

There are further consequences stemming from the removal of Isoldor's illegally obtained credits. This is not quite a comparable situation due to the circumstances.
Bug exploitation is bug exploitation and is cheating it doesn't really matter what the circumstances are.
If there are further consequences to his actions then good maybe the punishment will fit the crime but I only can go by the information that is offered on the Sim News.

I guess Lorin wasn't known so well by admins as Isoldor is...
*rolls eyes*
1 month (and removal of all that generated cash) for that kind of exploit is a funny punishment..
I'm not against or pro Storm.. But Zorran is right..Something here is odd..
The admins who punished the two players were different admins entirely, by the way.. What one might consider a more or less extreme punishment might not be the same as what the other felt.
From what I know of the two situations, the difference might be the following:
Lorin knowingly exploiting the CP bug and got something that's supposed to be a reward for helping the Combine. He was exploiting a bug in an OOC feature to get something he knew he shouldn't have.
Isolder manipulated an In-game (game engine, not necessarily something I'd label as purely 'IC') feature in order to benefit, rather than the feature working as it's supposed to. The removal of the credits "gained" from this also means the loss of all the assets that were originally used to make use of this feature. He's not losing money that just appeared from nowhere.
There is also the possibility that, given the numbers involved, Isolder was not fully aware that there was a bug in effect.
This is, of course, speculation on my part. I don't read minds. =D
