I was afraid of that.

If your handle is the name of your character, could I change mine after I register?

I'm interested in joining SWC, but it seems like it would be a good idea to visit some other forums before I settle on a character concept. It's kind of a Catch-22 if you can't see into the community or ask what's happening until AFTER you create a character that you won't be able to change, isn't it?

But I'm probably just worrying too much: Presumably, handles must change sometimes. Like, if a user's character dies.

So, I would be able to change mine before actual character creation, right?

No, your chosen handle is your first characters name. Pretty inconvenient, but that's how it is.

Only inconvenient if you don't like the name later on, I'd say you should think carefully about your name before you join, don't wanna be stuck with a name you don't want. the same with your skills

You only need to choose your handle when joining. Character creation comes later. But yes, your handle will be your character's name.

It would just be easier to think if I had more information. I mean, sure, there is lots of it in The Guide sections, but the more I learn the more I realize how little I know.

This game looks pretty complex,. I could think about my skills a little later, but if I change my mind about my goals, that will affect my whole method.

“Dash Rendar” sounds pretty good on a hotshot smuggler, but just try to get them to take you seriously at a real job. :lol:

Or, I might not want to be a certain race if I can’t get into a certain faction.

Should I find out that my first idea is a square peg, then I’ll have to decide whether to be stubborn and try to live up to it, or to really put my flexibility to the test. (“Well, it sounds like a Wookie name because my father named me for his co-pilot.”) :D

That’s fine, though. I’m sure that there’s a good reason why non-members can’t see the want ads. Besides, I bet that I’m going to have to be able to think on my feet here, anyway, so I’m sorry about all of this angst.

If that’s the way it is with handles, then I am just glad to know it now for sure. Thank you.

No problem, and it's different with all of us, me for example, I started not knowin what to expect or what kind of factions there were...but I managed to find my place with my faction after a little while.
