So here I am, very much dead... and then suddenly I get facility income. Then I get money from some other person who owed me money, and then I get over 600 items made over to me.... all after I died.
Why am I getting things after my death?
Since I have died I have made 30,221,393 credits, and somehow obtained ownership of 690 items.
I find this very odd since when I died, all of my stuff was lost. I was told after I brought this up to some others, that I should have told those who were going to pay me and such, but that would have been me OOC telling them IC of an IC action that took place, after I no longer have a character.
I just find this disturbing that I lost everything when I died, and was removed from the game, but somehow the factions I used to help are now going to suffer losses to me almost a week after my death.
It is intentional for dead players to be able to receive transfers, as it was decided that it should not be possible to determine by attempting to send someone a credit whether they are dead or alive.
Not every exploit for finding out information you shouldn't be able to know has been covered yet, that does not mean that exploits that have been handled should be opened up once more to match them.
In this case it is a text fix, Ral, If the asim wish for this, the whole not being able to tell if a character is dead or not, then what they would have to do is just replace the text string. As for the rest of what you said, your English is difficult for me to understand. Where did exploits that have been handled come from?
The text string replacement would be replaced with that which is the same as if you put in the wrong handle for assigning someone something. A fix yes, but it is something that could be done reasonably fast.
They would not have to just replace the text, it would have to be possible to assign assets to characters that no longer exist which I imagine is a little more complicated and time consuming. If I tried assigning something to Mintake Kyuzo and got told you didn't exist that is the same as telling me your dead, as I know you exist.
Unless they believed they go the spelling wrong. At which point they would have to confirm they got their spelling wrong from other means.
Or just lack and answer, so when it updates it does not say anything.
Personally I am dead, so while this is unfortunate, things are pretty final on my end and I have no plans on returning to the factions I was involved in. On the other hand, I do not like the fact that in my death I can absorb a huge amount of income and assets from a faction and effect another faction, all because of this... a week after my death.
Just seems like a way to make players suffer for not being online on live chat with the person, or going to other means like the assignment issue which circumvent this whole meaning of this.
Because now 4 factions have quickly found out about this issue and I expect it will grow. A couple hundred thousand credits is one thing, enough credits to fund the building of six cities and enough equipment to fully outfit an entire Government faction is another.
My function in character involved me dealing with the movement of many assets and credit flow. My sudden death seems to still be effecting CMGs as I still am getting inventory flashes. I mean, since my last post I made 50,000 credits.
So here I am, watching factions I helped and did stuff with for a very long time... and now they suffer huge losses in addition to my own losses... a week AFTER my death. The only way for them to not incur greater losses would be for them to either see this thread or for me to tell them OOC, which I have not done yet.
Just seems like a compound of punishment. Not only do I get punished by dying, by losing all of my assets, my character, and have to wait 3 weeks before I can be involved in this game again... but everyone who entrusted me to help things flow in a non real time game (as I have very odd hours compared to 90% of the Combine), now suffers long after I am dead. Just does not seem community oriented in a game where people are still functioning for a faction despite not being in touch for a week. Our characters can go into hyper for up to a time period of months, or you might have a hard work week and not have enough time to log in or the enough presence of mind due to the work stress, to shoot an email to your faction or everyone who is involved with your character that you are behind on things.
This function just seems oriented towards pushing a player who died ooc, to inform everyone whom they knew IC about what happened so they do not suffer losses despite your own personal losses. Right now I am sitting on the very real possibility that I will get another chunk of income roughly a day before I can remake, and the faction involved will lose a T3 shipyard... all because the person cannot be informed by me that I died.
My own faction does not even know I died and they have paid me and are awaiting for me to continue on doing some duties. They know I can disappear for up to a week at times or more if nessary, as I am dealing with a heavy college course load. So it is not like they even expect me to return their queries anytime soon... but because I am known as reliable for transactions and profits, people continue to make good on deals that were committed over a month ago.
All we can do here is explain the reasoning for this feature being this way. You don't need to agree with it, but in that case policy change suggestions are more suitable in the suggestion forums.
I just wonder why you have refused to tell all those people that you're dead.
And there are many means to do this: faction forum, e-mail, irc, icq, phone, etc.
