I'm thinking four. From the rules page:
"Consisting of 4 vertical hangar arms and a central control pylon, it has 4 contained construction bays that the ships are produced in."
I also assume you're talking about the X7 Factory Station.
Pozz, descriptions are not related to how functions work.
Togan, is wrong.
If the raw materials are stored in an adjacent station you can produce as many fighters as will fit inside the weight/volume capacity of the station you're producing with.
If you are using raw materials onboard the station I believe you will have to split the capacity between the raw materials needed to start the fighters and the final product itself, even though after production is started the materials are gone so theres more room. I'm not entirely sure about that bit, so if I'm wrong then it's either however many fighters will fit or how many fighters worth of materials you can fit. I think I'm right though as I remember having to split the space when starting ground hogs a long time ago.

It's not queing, you can have multiple ships produced at the same time in the same production facility. It will take almost as long before any complete production than if you were just producing one after the other but I believe it's slightly quicker then if they were just qued, whether it is or isn't significantly faster it is possible.

as a member of a production faction, it is possible to produce more than one item at a time per facility, but it depends on size, weight, etc. Also the number of workers you can put to one.
You will need to experiment, and then make your own "Production bible" Our faction has one, it tells us how many of what we can produce at one time and the ideal number of workers to produce it.
You can produce as many fighters at the same time as many will fit inside the weight/volume capacity of the station. And yes it is gonna take slightly less time than making them individually. No matter how many you make at the same time you have to use the same amount of workers you would use for only one ship. So to answer your question, you could squeeze in around 40.
