1.) The new rules page says that toolkits are required to create a lock and a crafting kit is required to make a key. Do these actions consume the toolkit / crafting kit, or can they be re-used?
2.) The equation given for installation time is: Lock Level * 4. Is that in minutes or hours?
“Keycards are items, so no. But the owner of an entity can change lock codes when they want to (without having to know the old code).
- Teyacapan Quetzalxochitl ”
So does that also mean that once a lock and keycard is created for a room, I can still lock and unlock my room even if I destroy the key or make the key over to someone else?
DeMeer, I've been over it a thousand times and I'm only going to go over it once more for you sake. I'm sick of using comp ops for everything. I picked theft/deceit because it just seemed to me that someone who can break a lock (a theif) should also be uber at installing them.
Also, if a ship is owned by a faction, anyone with make over privs is assumed as owner, and in terms of factions being commander, they operate as normal commander if they don't have make over privs.
Need a timer for constructing locks and keys though.I started crafting a key and get no indication my character is engaged in any action, however when I try to construct a lock on a different door, it states I am busy doing something else. There is no visible timer showing I am doing anything.

It isn't who you are,but what you do,that defines you.
People have called me a Beast, and yet all Beasts know some degree of pity.I know none,so therefore,I am no Beast.
Locks are used to create an exclusive barrier between two rooms, preventing unwanted visitors from entering certain areas. ”
To clarify, is this feature only being implemented for inside entities at this time, or does this now give people the chance to enter something for which they are not on the crewlist for?

-For now it's only possible to lock interior doors.

WIth keycards, do they need to be in hand to walk through a locked door with the right password, or are they fine hidden in the depths of backpacks etc?
Another couple of quick questions:
Does a lock work both ways? I mean can I lock myself into a room without anyone on the outside being able to get in(without passcode, key or electronic lock breaker)?
And is it necessary for me to stay in the same position until completing the lock or am I free to move around (logic dictates that it shouldn't be possible)?
Thanks
Okay. The question I have is this: If someone is arrested, put in a room with a door, unarrested (no cuffs), then abandoned in the locked room, will the Admins release them or will they be classed as prisoners?
I believe that - as long as you cannot force entry into an entity - they will be released after the 3 week period. Unless of course, if the character is held inside a facility that's open to all.
