Can a DC have more than one custom image associated with it?

Next question is, if you have rented a DC can you apply a custom image to only that rented DC or would it have to be applied to the original?

Nope, a DC only has one custom image that can be applied to all entities created by it. Any assignings of the DC will include the custom image set unless its been chosen to use the normal, standard image.
