The rules page gives the following stats for the Quasar Fire-class Bulk Cruiser:
Weight: 145,000 T
Volume: 2,890,000 m³
Weight Cap: 1,200 T
Volume Cap: 600,000 m³
These cargo stats don't seem to make any sense, especially when compared to one of the new CP ships the Belarus Medium Carrier, whose stats are this:
Weight: 40,000 T
Volume: 750,000 m³
Weight Cap: 1,500 T
Volume Cap: 12,500 m³
How can the Quasar hold 48 times more volume-wise than the Belarus but 300 metric tons less? I did a bit of hunting to see if I could find stats for the Quasar.
Looking to source material for the Quasar Fire-class cruiser says it can hold about 50 fighters, which I take to mean 48 = 2 rows of 12, times 2. This lines up with the pictures in the source material found in The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels by Del Rey. The picture shows a row of 12 X-wings on the hangar floor and 12 spots for B-wings overhead (it actually points out the B-wing is to scale).
Working out the stats of 24 of each of those fighters (as currently exists in SWC) produces results that exceed the weight capacity of the SWC Quasar by over double. The current weight of 24 of each comes to 2,520 T. In order to be semi-true to canon, the ship's weight capacity needs to be increased.
The gross volume that the 48 ships above would need is far less than the 600,000 m³ capacity of the ship. (Where did that number come from?) The volume needed for those ships comes to 26,400 m³, if they were all to be piled on top of each other with no extra room. As it stands the volume is around 22 times larger than needed to hold the fighters it's supposed to be able to hold. A simple 5 or even 10 times the volume of the fighters would be more than sufficient to cover the space issue, leaving room for equipment, droids, maintenance staff, etc.
Is there any possibility that the Quasar fire-class Bulk Cruiser's cargo stats can be amended to fit more in line with canon sources?
