Where can I get information about the Anzat religion? I've tried Count Willey's website but the NAO seems more interested in touting thier pride of independence and social advancement opportunities than reveal anything about the religious order that I gather runs the faction.
Try contacting Camaris. He's kept the records of most of that. Actually, the NAO hasn't been a theocracy since, oh... Brooks' reign. If you look up the old info, even the NAO's founder (Dunkler Klerus) was against religious zealotry even though it was influenced by the Anzati religion.
“1.1 LEAVE YOUR DOGMA AT THE DOOR
Anzat and its subsequent colonies are havens for economic development and trade. To that end, there will be may people with many beliefs living and working within our borders.
With such a diverse population, much of which will support either the Empire or the Alliance, it is necessary to keep the peace. Thus, while in-system, all people must obey Anzati Law. Though we do not wish to restrict free speech, any large public display of allegiance with any dogma or belief which will lead to a disturbance will thus be considered on the same level as yelling "fire" in a public place. Fines and/or other punishments will be levied. See section 3.1.”
So you are quite mistaken about the religion running the faction. My character (head of state), for example, is a devout follower of Alissma. Owen, the head of government, is more of an athiest/humanist. Dan, the head of the military, is more spirtual/Force believing.
Those are the top three people in the Order and their views. None really follow the NPC Anzati religion, though I do find what I've read about it mildly interesting.
However, this entire thread is more suited to the NAO forum than those of the Combine main site.
If you check the history files on the current NAO website, you'll notice the mention of a one week Panacea Revolution lead by Yarbles. After this revolution, Yarbles and the few people that stayed behind to help him rebuild, started reinventing NAO. They decided to create a religious order (the Panacea Order) that would rule the state as theocratic state. Prime Minister Yarbles and Minister of Culture Sicyon were the main characters for this Order. A lot of the mythology was written by Azrai Darrk, a greek so it has sort of a greek tragedy touch to it.
As Yarbles had his race changed to anzati and handle changed to Malakai Brooks, he decided to take a step back from religious zealotry because it wasn't getting the desired effect. As Sicyon got the top job after Brooks, he further separated state and church. With the death of Sicyon, the last of the creators of the Panacea Order (IC then) passed away. By that time Yarbles didn't exist anymore, Azrai Dark had stopped playing and Sicyon was dead. From that point on the Panacea Order was simply forgotten.
After the short invasion by the GE, I decided to rp a small restoration of the Panacea Order (my old char was Sicyon so you understand why). IC wise I hold the old scrolls of the religion and Wilhelm has graciously allowed me to create a Noble House that safeguards the old religious culture of the anzatan people.
If you want more IC info about these scrolls, you can contact me personally because I don't think this forum is the place for it. Its not even the place for this post :)
To be fair I don't believe I called the NAO religious zealots. And though I will admit to skimming the NAO's history file rather than giving it proper study, I did Google Anzat and check the Wiki-pedia before asking.
There were several references to a vampiric race and several more to something in French (I gather- could have been Italian) and still another to Air New Zealand Airline Training.
The missing piece (and the reason I assumed the NAO was controlled theocratically, either directly or indirectly) was that there is a Planet Anzat. Something I was unaware of until recently.
Which makes Anzat a racial term, a religious term, and a geographical term. In another five years or so I think I've have this down.
Anzati are named because of the planet Anzat, not because of their religion.
*Random Trivia*
Teniel Djo, who is 1/4 Anzati (And an Anzati in the game), doesn't have a specific religion, but has a number of talismans and charms that she puts considerable faith into.
Marcus, never said you called the Anzati (Native race of Anzat) or Anzatans (NAO citizens) zealots. I merely said Dunkler Klerus was against religious zealotry.
Really, there isn't much hard data on the Anzati race. Minus the vampiric tendencies towards gathering "soup" and the fact that they were some of the best assassins in the Galaxy. The rest is mostly fan made.
Anzat is the planet. New Anzat is the sector (should just be Anzat too, but meh). Anzati is the race. Anzatan is a citizen of the Anzat government.
For example, I'm Anzatan but a Coruscani. Teniel's Anzati but not Anzatan.
From the OOC Welcome Forum Point 12: -I have a penis IRL. That's right, no matter how horny a 16-year old you might be, my main character was the mustached Keir Santage who had a daughter named Teniel Djo. When my first account was deleted, I decided to continue roleplaying as the daughter...do not ever flirt with me or I shall do nasty horrible things to you. No I do not "want 2 cybr", and if you ask me for a RL photo you shall see how hairy a back a 22-year old male can have. Good, we got that out of the way :)
