Give the NPC a sensor pack, and carry one yourself. In fact, if you drop off 6 NPCs at the right locations you can 'see' everything on an empty slab when you are on terrain --- full coverage. (Might be able to get away with 4 NPCs if their Perception is good ??)

Shouldnt the scoped element of most of these 7+ range items enhance the sight range somewhat? Not often you need a spotter when acting alone as a single sniper.
Only thing that might get you the full 15, depends how Force Sight gets implemented and whether that improves it further or just chances to detect.
Additionally Macro Binoculars currently look unimplemented so essentially looks like if its outside your perception range and you aren't sharing sensors then it cant be used.

Well, the fact that they are sniper rifles with scopes is the reason why such weapons have such a long range in SWC in the first place. That you need extra perception/a spotter may not necessarily be 100% realistic, but it's a gameplay decision. Weapons and combat matters are things that need to be balanced around gameplay rather than realism, above all else, in a game (which, for example, is why ammo was removed--very significant gameplay decision, but obviously unrealistic--even a weapon running on a power pack would need a recharge at some point, depending on the specifics of SW tech).
In this case, part of the balancing factor is that sniper rifles are significantly more powerful than weapons with a lower range, and using a spotter means you need to manually readjust your setup if your target moves around. It's the price you pay for using a powerful weapon. If you find it too annoying, use something that doesn't pack such a punch, essentially. We want to move away from the idea that there is one best weapon that everyone should try to acquire.
I'm not sure how clear Ten's response was to you, but macrobinocs are indeed implemented and immensely useful! They've been working for a few months; it was announced in some Sim News or sync post a while back.
Ten, to be fair, he asked about a 14 square range, but only and 8 range perception. skills + binocs get you out to 13 as you say. Its not 14... but its a lot more than 8.
I interpreted his question to be more about why weapons exist with any range > perception as opposed spcifically to standing off at max range.
If they are working the symbol for them on the rules needs a change then. They still show Not Implemented

Yes, that is true; they should at least show as partially implemented, although I am not sure if something else is actually planned for them at all, so fully implemented may be the way to go. You can file a bug report for that if you wish, as I am not sure the developers check here regularly.
