- Re-assigning NPCs/Droids/Vehicles/Ships to another person or to no one will remove them from their party and will also abort their travel.
I don't quite understand this. Does that mean if I am flying my faction ship in the Hyper and the leader reassigns the ship, then the ship will stop traveling and jump out of the Hyper?
Wherever you are in the galaxy at the time, as if you had aborted normally. So if its just after travel was started, you'd be in the system you just left or one adjacent to it. If it's just before you arrive, you'll drop out into one of the systems adjacent to the destination, etc.
I presume the only way it's "a way to kill" would be if the ship you're flying is a fighter, though, since aborting into a sun will only kill you if you're 1) assigned as pilot (which you're not anymore) or 2) in a fighter.
“So re-assigning to another person or nobody (while traveling) will never abort the entity into a blackhole or sun?
- Maha Michi ”
Where did you come up with that? Re-assigning to another person or nobody while traveling will give them the same chance to abort into a blackhole or a sun just as if they had dropped out of hyper themselves.
Mikel's point was they won't die unless they're in a fighter. The rules state that:
“When a pilot plots his course to its destination, the ship computer will automatically avoid any suns in the way. However, a pilot can decide to override the computer decision and set the destination right into the sun or right into a Black Hole. If a ship arrives on a sun or Black Hole, its fate will depend upon its class. Wrecks, satellites and fighters on a sun or black hole are destroyed, along with whatever they contain.
Capital ships and freighters sustain hull damage (30% to 50%), ionic damage (15% to 35%), and shield loss (25% to 60%) and are moved one square to the left, away from the sun (if the sun or blackhole is at X-coordinates 0, then the ship is moved 1 square to the right). The pilot is killed if he is in control of the ship (piloted mode).
- The Rules ”
Fighters and their pilot will be destroyed while capital ships and freighters will be damaged. The pilot will not be killed because they won't technically be piloting when/if it crashes because they were unassigned.
