Charlena Halo

After reading the other thread, I have some questions about finding and controlling a planet.

Do you need a ship with 8 sensors to find a system, or do the sensors even matter?

Once you found it, how many flats are needed to control it? Is it just a simple majority, like one powered personal residence? Or is there a minimum number of flats needed?

Once you enter a hidden system, you will see everything. It is only hidden on the galaxy map unless you are in it.

As for control, see the relevant rules page (government pages perhaps?) as there is an equation such that a larger planet needs a higher population to gain control.

Thanks!

1.1/ Planetary Control
On any planet where the population is greater than (Planet size * Planet size * 2,500), the faction owning more than 50% of the flats of a planet, with these flats being all powered is considered the controlling power of that planet. The faction name will be displayed in the planet's information as being the legal owner of that planet.

If the majority of the flats is owned by NPCs or if the total population is strictly lower than (Planet size * Planet size * 2,500) the planet will remain neutral and 'None' will appear in the planet's information.

If a facility containing flats (house, high-rise...) is made over to or by a faction, then the owner is recalculated. Therefore, trading facilities may generate a change in owner, including the planet reverting to a neutral status.

This is what I found from the government page. Doesn't say anything about a minimum number of flats to build, just that I need >50% of the flats. Since there's no slabs or flats on a newly discovered system, it only needs one lowly little personal residence to claim it? Or do I need to build enough flats to fit the minimum population?

From what you quoted:

if the total population is strictly lower than (Planet size * Planet size * 2,500) the planet will remain neutral

Planet starts at 0 base population when discovered.

Okay, so a 6x6 planet has a minimum population size of 90,000 according to that formula. So I need to build enough flats to support and create that base population?

So it's 90,000 for 6x6. If I build 140 flats, that will bring the base population up over 90k, giving control over to me since I own those flats.

Yes, I'm speaking hypothetically.

Table with the size of a planet, pops needed to control it, how many flats that'll take, and what the pop equates to. So in a nutshell, yes 140 flats would control a 6x6.
