SSL isn't really a requirement of the internet and it's not like Combine is housing any data that needs to be particularly secure. The worst that could happen is someone could steal your password through a man in the middle attack or packet sniffing, but that's a very unlikely thing to have happen unless you're also somewhere with an insecure connection like a public hotspot. Even then, SSL isn't always a guaranteed to protect you from something like a man in the middle attack if they're posing as the server and doing their own SSL shenanigans, though that's normally only a problem if the server itself is self signed. Or if someone just automatically clicks through all warning messages... >.>
