Before the owner of facility to the bugbase - is anyone else having an issue with production being 100% complete and not finishing?

I don't know if my problem is the same thing, but i want to ask here first before posting in the bugbase..

Just yesterday one of my ship that is under construction, suddenly got a red overlay on top of its image, with a concerning 'Destroyed' Text at the top. i ponder all day if it is due to April Fools, but considering today is April 2nd already, i decide to pop here and ask..

Is it known already to the dev? And do i need to post it in the bugbase?

The red overlay is on vehicles too if that makes a difference in the bug fix.

Can someone give Sel a call and cup of coffee???

We've had one factory that items finished by a dissolved faction have prevented us from producing items in now for over six months - bug reported by owner.

Now we have factories completing their production for two days or more that will not finish because of another bug.

Regarding dissolved faction crate production, you need to raise a support ticket to get your factory fixed (if you are getting an error when entering it). Bugs is for code fixes, but database fixes need a support ticket, alternatively can usually also be fixed on IRC in #swc-help. The underlying bug for dissolved faction crate production has been fixed since last month.

The person who was originally stuck in the factory filed a support ticket and the owner filed both a support ticket and then filed a bug report. The bug report was lumped into the others that was filed with the same problem.

When the asteroid sync came out that included the crates owned by dissolved factions, our leader asked this question in the general questions sim news topic

"- Crates produced and owned by dissolved factions will now be sent to the NPC market (#3864)"

1- Is this retroactive so that people do not get stuck in the Entrance/Exit of production facilities that contain items/crates of dissolved factions?

So after several months, another support ticket needs to be filed and the factory with the dissolved faction items will be taken care of? without messing up the current production of ships???

I have pushed a code change for the next sync that should allow you to enter rooms/facilities/stations/etc containing items with broken owners without them crashing the page. I was unaware a tool was to be written to fix this, but hopefully it won't be necessary. Items can be fixed on a case by case basis by asims.

Again, like the original bug in this thread it will need to wait for next sync, which is now likely to happen next weekend.

The red overlay hasn't been fixed as far as i am aware. I have ships saying they are destroyed, and shipyards under construction that have nothing on the countdown.

Production timer update, please.

We have some factories and stations behaving as they should. Yet we have some that should have finished on days 125, 126 and 130 still stuck on their 100% finished status.

What is the situation of the bug fix if some are finishing and some are still stuck?

While I am aware that these particular issues are... annoying....

There are workarounds that make it so that waiting for a sync isn't the end of the world.

1. While you cannot see the production times on specific ships/vehicles/etc. You can still see the times from either the station inventory, sometimes the factory inventory, and/or you can filter the workers in the specific location and they show how long something has to go.

2. Factory timers have been stuck before on various issues, it is just something that is what it is. A couple weeks later isn't the end of the world and as has been said should be fixed with the sync or ASims forcing the production end.

3. Not being able to get into a factory because of items from dissolved factions has the workaround that was already mentioned on the main bug report of using a small fighter or something to dock into the factory and then using the room map to get to the command room and bypassing the bugged location of the enter/exit room. So while it is a bit of a pain you could still use those factories in the meantime.

4. Syncs happen when they happen. Asking for an update on one isn't really going to make them happen any sooner.

Edit: As an after-thought, really if anyone is supposed to be annoyed by the April Fools bug it should be me. Faerytail sells Under Construction ships on CPM all the time. When the overlay told some of our customers their ships were destroyed they were quite worried. Good thing my/our trading record is impeccable or there would be a number of annoying trading lounge threads right now. Instead they all believed me when I showed them the bug and their ships are finishing like normal.
Bugs happen, main thing is to roll with them and use workarounds till stuff is fixed.

If a factory is set up for producing items and the items "finished" ten days ago, what is the "workaround" to continue to produce items when the factory says this - "ETA: Y18D125 7:05 (-10D )"?

Yep it just limits the said factory to producing ships and vehicles - no items because....

We know about this workaround - we discovered also that when someone is stuck in the same room as the fued crates, someone can dock and go to the command room and kick the person. That is how we freed our trapped member after he asked for help for three days.
What we cannot work around is producing items in a factory where we cannot enter the entrance and retrieve them.

We just figured after the trapped member filing a support ticket and the owner of the factory filing a support ticket and bug report several months ago, this would have been fixed.

And the reason I asked for an update is because some stuff is behaving and finishing, so how are they not bugged? I assumed there was a sync and some stuff didn't get fixed.

The april sync added a new mandatory field to the production action.

Production actions started before the affected sync did not have this field set, so they crash when they finish because they try to look up the value of the field, which is invalid, instead of finishing normally.

Production started after the affected sync sets the field, so when the production finishes it finishes normally.

The fix makes the field non-mandatory.

Currently there are no admin tools available to efficiently set fields for all actions, so there is no way to fix it without updating the code.

The automated tests that run do not do a regression using the old data against the new code so did not catch this bug before it was released.

Clarr, Luckily after like...a few months you could change it back to mandatory as all old productions should be finished by then. Good job either way once again with the bug squashing.

Simkin, It might not be the end of the world but if it's a quick and easy fix.. why not just bring out a quick sync fixing it for everyone and instead lumping it together with a lot of other updates/fixes bringing out a sync in a couple of weeks? See.. if it was an issue that took a bit of time understanding and fixing... I could partially understand, as by then people tend to have gotten used to the issue and work around/avoid it.

Relain, has someone finally come back on manually fixing that bugged factory yet?

Thanks to all who worked on fixing this!!!!

Although today the owner of one of the factories got stuck in the bugged factory I noted previously, he filled out a support ticket and the situation was fixed in short time. Thanks for that too.
