I'm assuming you can change the avatar because of all of the different ones in combine, but how?

Images need to be online somewhere else, example: http://www.yourdomain.com/image.gif

Goto menu on the right, click open manage if it isn't already, then click on character, then at the top, under the advertisement banners, there is "Edit YourHandle's Character" The rest you should be able to do yourself.
