Civic Centres fulfill a multitude of different purposes within the city. Chiefly it is the centre for general administration of city affairs such as: water, electricity, public transport, and power; public announcements also originate from the Civic Centre. The centre also houses the city's main tourism and visitors kiosk, where those new to the area or galaxy may find a good starting location for their travels.

An additional role of the Civic Centre is to act as a general recreation facility for the city's inhabitants. Events large or small can be held at the Civic Center and provide a wholesome place to go which helps to reduce city crime rates.
