The Clone Trooper Armor was worn by the clone soldiers of the Old Republic during the Clone Wars. It was designed by Kaminoans and was based on the Mandalorian Armor, but seems to be largely influenced by the designers. This influence is mainly seen in the plain white coloring of the standard suits. The Galactic Empire's Stormtrooper Armor was based on the Clone Trooper Armor's design.

The Clone Trooper Armor consists of twenty plates, made from a lightweight plastoid alloy, sealed to a black bodysuit. While the standard armor was white, other colors were later added to some suits to distinguish between the different ranks and unit types. An advanced glove-controlled air filtration and temperature control system was incorporated into the suit to increase comfort levels for the clones. It also allowed for some modifications and attachments resulting in the creation of multiple specializations within the clone armies. A unique scanner was installed so that commanders could easily track the events of a battle from afar. While the armor seems to be quite bulky and heavy compared to other models, its defenses are comparable to more modern armor types and also allow for a reasonable motion range and mobility.

Since the Kaminoans lacked knowledge of the human anatomy, the armor tended to be uncomfortable, especially when the clone was seated. However, later models, known as the Phase II Armor, increased the comfort levels of these suits. The original Phase I armor was mostly destroyed and the parts were used to make the newer models. The Phase II Armor was fitted with lighter, strengthened plates, allowing the armor to take more punishment in combat. It also had increased padding and was made heat-resistant, allowing the wearer to pass through energy shields in the same manner as droids do. The existing temperature control systems were improved to allow for combat in more harsh conditions. Stability of the new model was improves by adding a small gravitational field alternator to the boots.

With the fall of the Old Republic, the Clone Trooper Armor was eventually phased out and most of the remaining suits were dismantled and used to produce the Galactic Empire's Stormtrooper Armor.
