Ktil V is one of the larger planets in the Ktil system of the Ktilac Regions. The planet has a dense atmosphere surrounding it, which provides breathable air and a temperate climate for the beings that call this planet home. There are vast oceans covering most of the planet's surface. Where there is dry land, it is covered by dense forests. These forests block much of the sunlight from reaching the planet's surface. The planet also has small ice caps on the north and south poles. Due to the optimal planet's conditions, and distance from the system's sun, it is perfect for many sentient beings to prosper there. Many creatures call the jungles, forests, swamps, and vast oceans home. Ktil V was the first planet in the system to be settled. The settlers, who are now long since extinct, build large stone temples in the planet's forests to worship their god of creation, K`tila. Upon the walls of the temples, the ancient people engraved many stories in the form of hieroglyphics. Many hundreds of years later, when other civilizations started exploring this region of space, they took note of the large temples. After much research, they were able to translate the meaning of some of the hieroglyphics on the temple walls. There were many errors in their first attempt at translation, most notably the misinterpretation of the civilizations god of creation. The researchers translated it "Ktila" and thought it was what the civilization called the planet, not that their god's name was K`tila. Even when the error was identified, the planet's name remained. When researchers discussed the system, they referred to the system as being "Ktila's" system. The name stuck and the system is now commonly known as the Ktil System.

After the rise of the Trade Federation, many beings began to visit the Ktil system, including the Viceroy himself. He had heard good things of this world and decided he needed to see it for himself. After his tour of the planet, the Viceroy put a plan in motion to construct a resort on the oceanfront, one similar to the one later constructed on Ktil II. The Viceroy visits this location often, using his time there to relax and leave the stress of his position behind for a short while.

Ktil V is one of the furthest planets from the system sun and makes up the top of the triangle of planets that life can thrive on in this system, with Planet Ktil and Ktil II creating the other points. This gives this planet a cooler temperature, which some creatures favor.
