A cold and sparsely inhabited world, Gettiarn is the farthest planet from the sun in the Iotran system. The planet is seismically active, with high volcanic activity centered around its equator steadily introducing high volumes of thick toxic gases into the atmosphere, forcing settlements across the planet's icy plains to rely on shielding in order to provide breathable air. Although Gettiarn is not rich in biodiversity, it is home to a number of native species that have adapted to its atmosphere and freezing temperatures, and the local inhabitants rely on these as a source of food due to the planet's low agricultural potential. The world has very little native plant life, and most of the local flora was introduced by settlers and thrives within small hydroponic gardens within the cities. Most of the world's inhabitants came to the system to find construction work when Iotran development peaked and found the cost of living too high on the system's other worlds.
