Korfin is entirely inhospitable, but despite its subzero temperatures and perilous ice and obsidian terrain, it has served as a mining planet for several companies over the past three centuries.

Most of these endeavors have been short-lived, however, and whether their stunted lifespan is due to the economic infeasibility of operations or the dangerous, often deadly nature of the planet is unknown. Across Korfin there are the remnants of mining outposts that are often explored and salvaged.

The most infamous of these is Tier 0-14B located on a peninsula jutting out into the lava fields. The final resting place of the thirty-three miners who were once stationed there is a mystery, however, a distress call sent before their disappearance is public record in the Feriae system and suggests they met a grisly demise.
