Discovered at the beginning of this century by Professor Eril Nargnst, Istic I remained largely untouched and unexplored until only recently when the research colony of ‘Glasshouse’ was established, aimed at investigating the unique ecosystem of the planet. Istic I consists of two large landmasses with the northern continent connected to its pole and snowfields by swamplands. A vast river system divides the planet before its southern continent and snowfields begin. It is in the south that Glasshouse research station was established.

Most notable of Istic’s wildlife is the Dryar Bird. With their wingspans stretching a massive five meters across, these birds are more akin to flying lizards than actual birds, possessing a startling array of deep red and orange scales rather than feathers. The Dryar Birds, however, are not the only wildlife that has brought interest to this remote world. Others are the vast variety of massive reptiles that roam the surface of the planet. While fossils of a similar nature have been found the galaxy-wide, it is only here that these massive beasts remain, their habitat largely untouched. The icefields on the north and south pole provide Istic I with a stable climate and constant tides. Revolving slower on its axis than most planets, each day lasts for 28 standard hours, with each revolution around the Istic sun taking 385.4 standard days. As one of the few planets to possess a natural standard seasonal pattern it is only a matter of time before more cities are formed and the planet begins large scale colonization.
