Planet: Feriae Junction
Table of Contents [hide]

Feriae Junction (more commonly known simply as "Junction") is a prosperous trading world and an important hub that sits at an intersection of the Hydian Way, the Thesme Trace, and the Gordian Reach hyperlanes. The planet occupies the third position from its primary and is the only readily habitable celestial object in the system. Yet, while Junction has a pleasantly temperate climate, much of its surface is composed of desert land and rocky wastes. It’s only in the southern hemisphere that large areas of woodland can be found alongside a few small seas. The most notable feature about the planet is the fact that the globe is tilted on its axis, which explains the extensive polar caps in the far east and west instead of the more common north and south division.

Junction was originally settled by the Duros during their age of exploration and expansion across the hyperspace lanes more than 20,000 years ago. Yet, when the Humans expanded into the Gordian Reach sector the ideally positioned world of Junction became the target of multiple colonisation waves. Over the millennia, Humans became the dominant demographic on the planet, but closely followed by the Duros, and eventually the Twi'leks. As commerce and trade flowed through Junction over the aeons, the planet continued to be developed and urbanised resulting in a vibrant and cultured world of great diversity.

The planetary government is comprised of local councils that each administer their assigned territory with a moderate degree of autonomy. It was these councils that decided to align Junction with the Separatist cause during the Clone Wars as a result of dissatisfaction with the high tax rates the Republic had imposed on the trade lanes that passed through the Feriae system. After the war’s end, the world and its planetary government came under the influence of a number of interstellar governments and even served as the capital planet of the Schism Collective in more recent history. Later, it also became the capital of the modern incarnation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, until its administrative centre was moved to the Tar Morden system in recent years. Despite this, Junction remains an important trade hub and a world with a long and rich history.
