Planet: Asation
Table of Contents [hide]

Mountainous and forested Asation has historically been a major port world of the Gree people, and was often dubbed “Gateway of the Gree Enclave '' as a result. Yet, historical records indicate that the planet had not always been the idyllic, pleasantly warm orb that it is today. Supposedly, the Gree had xenoformed Asation from a barren rock into a lush orb during the heyday of their interstellar empire, which had existed long before the Rakata arose from their homeworld to conquer the known galaxy. As such, the world’s verdant forests and overgrown jungles are populated with myriad primaeval species of flora and fauna, including many precursors to well-known creatures such as the gizkas, gundarks, and acklays. Its vibrant oceans full of enormous and mesmerising marine life forms border on a purple hue as a result of a rare combination of native species of plankton and algae, and the unique wavelengths emitted by its primary.

The Gree had settled Asation many aeons ago, and over time the planet had become the major point of contact between the rest of the galaxy and the cephalopod natives from the nearby world of Gree. While access to its surface for alien species was regularly closed off when the Gree Enclave periodically withdrew themselves from the galactic community in what they referred to as “Orange Conic Eras”, Asation grew to become a flourishing trade world. Here non-Gree could offer their services (or sometimes themselves in indentured service) in return for the tiniest morsel of the fabled Gree technology that its creators were so renowned for. However, in recent millennia, the Gree slowly started to retreat to their homeworld while their once grand society fell into decline, and Asation’s cities started to fall into disrepair as its original caretakers were no longer there to maintain them. Those alien species that lived on the planet tried to ward off the urban decay by using their own far-less sophisticated and often incompatible technology. This eventually resulted in the mismatched architectural style of many of the modern settlements on the planet.

Few Gree remain on Asation in present times, and the world is largely populated by what the original settlers would consider lesser aliens, such as Humans, Anx, Ithorians, Rodians, and Zabraks, among many others. Most of these peoples live in urban conglomerations they constructed on the planet’s surface themselves, as the ancient Gree settlements such as the old planetary capital of Satikan or the forbidden city of Green Eclipse lie forgotten and in ruins. Yet, perhaps the most notable landmark of Asation is the towering dormant hypergate, which had been constructed by the Gree shortly after their arrival on the planet all those millennia ago. This unfathomably technologically sophisticated structure is regarded with both awe and suspicion by the contemporary inhabitants of Asation, as the tales of how the hypergate had been opened by rogue Sith forces to unleash the mythical “Terror From Beyond” roughly four thousand years ago remain alive to this day.
