The highly cosmopolitan world of Chommell Minor is frequently described as one of the gems of the Chommell sector, often heralded as such in the same breath as the neighbouring planet of Naboo. While a vast majority of its surface is covered beneath a bustling urban sprawl of graceful-looking ornate towers and highly coveted residential blocks, the world still harbours open plains of fertile grasslands where herds of big grazers roam freely, dense forests which are prowled by packs of vicious nexu and colonies of fearsome kryknas, and humid wetlands where agile nunas dart away from the massive legs of lumbering fambaas and falumpasets passing through.

Chommell Minor was discovered by explorers from the Core Worlds roughly four millennia ago, during a brief exploration wave targeting the Chommell sector during that period. The planet was colonised around the same time that Humans from Grizmallt had established their first settlements on Naboo. In the period that followed thereafter, Chommell Minor quickly developed into a prosperous trade hub in the local interstellar neighbourhood that attracted a diverse and skilled working population. As a result, the planet often acted as a waypoint for the Galactic Republic into the Chommell sector and the wider Outer Rim, with the Jedi Order even having established a small outpost during the High Republic era that was rumoured to have been infiltrated and destroyed by the Nihil, a group of anarchistic marauders terrorising the Mid and Outer Rims at that time. Nonetheless, Chommell Minor remained loyal to the Republic cause during the Clone Wars, and acted as a staging ground for its military and the Jedi. In recent decades, the planet became a member world of the Falleen Federation, and enjoyed a period of economic growth and prosperity once more.

While Chommell Minor may be a planet in the Mid Rim of the galaxy, its highly culturally sophisticated society harbours close ties with the elites of the Core Worlds and other notable civilisations existing on the galactic plane. While the planet itself had never developed its own nobility or any other form of an entrenched caste system, many lesser family members of the galaxy's noble houses have chosen to permanently reside within the world's metropolitan cities. From distant cousins or elderly bachelors and bachelorettes from the noble houses of Alderaan and Kuat, to members of cadet branches or children born out of wedlock from the patrician bloodlines of Serenno and Dubrillion, many have started a new life as beloved or notorious socialites within the upper echelons of Chommell Minor's society. It is the presence of these nobles and other wealthy and prominent figures that has turned the planet into a veritable cultural hotspot, with fashion events, art exhibitions, holovid festivals, and grand balls and galas being the order of the day.
