Planet: Lacca
Table of Contents [hide]

Little attention has been paid to the molten planet Lacca by cartographers since initial survey scans were conducted. They recorded a planet covered with roiling lava oceans, active energy releases that spewed molten magma and a dense atmosphere of mixed toxic gasses. Gas chromatography analysis detailed numerous extremely toxic gas compound within Lacca’s atmosphere. Scientists were astounded to discover five new gas compounds, all individually extremely toxic. Three of these compounds are still unique to this world itself. It is said that one scientist stated after reading the analysis results, ‘Death was born on Lacca’.

In their summary report, cartographers indicated the planet offered little to no opportunity for galactic expansion and lacked any appropriate resources. Little interest had been paid towards Lacca until recently.

Growing concerns from sector mining communities regarding critical raw material shortages has seen renewed scanning of unestablished planets. Recent scanning of the planet has raised more questions than answers for galactic geologists and scientists. For example, whilst Lacca closely orbits the system star, Striar, it is at a sufficient distance and correct evolution for magma to cool and form mantle plates. Geologists computer modelling estimates large continental plates should be sufficiently formed, yet Lacca’s magma oceans have showed no signs of cooling, let alone any indication of mantle plate formations.

In addition, geologists cannot explain continual extreme energy releases that are observed planet wide. Simulator calculations and modelling have estimated Lacca, with its consistent and sustained energy burn rate, would have consumed all remaining energy capacity sometime during the Old Republic era. Despite this, current planetary energy analysis indicates levels are consistent with original cartography estimations. Some computer modelling even indicates that energy levels are actually increasing, although no reasonable hypothetical reasoning can explain how this could occur.

It is these curiosities and unexplained phenomena that have gained the interest of energy hungry corporations, while confounding scientists and inquiring geologists. As with the planet’s rare toxic gasses, there may be a new energy form waiting to be discovered?
