Malnuir bears little significance other than for its past - it was once a hive for pirate activity, before gases emitted by the ion engines of ships caused a chemical reaction in the atmosphere of Malnuir, causing a chemical reaction which caused corrosive gases to form. At the time, there was no protection against these corrosives, but although a new chemical treatment that has become standard on all ships manufactured is perfectly effective against this corrosive, superstition among pilots dictates that they steer clear.
