Located in the Bamula sector of the Inner Rim lies the heavily urbanised planet of Mindabaal, a world of otherwise ragged rocky plains and coppery deserts of surprisingly lush vegetation. Its primary hydrosphere consists of a shallow ocean located beneath a conglomeration of cities in the lower half of the northern hemisphere and a few smaller seas within the equatorial range, while the rest of the planetary surface consists of one giant supercontinent. Yet, despite the prevalence of desert land, the world has a mostly temperate climate that is only somewhat warmer than most other planets of the same type.

While Mindabaal is home to a number of indigenous non-sentient lifeforms, such as endemic subspecies of the graceful and elegant vulptex or the quick and agile hawkbat, no intelligent life form has ever evolved on the planet. Instead, the world is populated by mostly Humans, who immigrated there during the early years of the High Republic era and installed a planetary monarchy as the global form of government. Over the centuries that followed, Mindabaal became rapidly urbanised and attracted members of various species that were adapted to life on more arid and drier planets, such as the Zabraks, the Cathar, and the Iktotchi, among others.

The planet is well-known throughout the galaxy for its Royal Academy, a top-class educational institution that has always been supported by the royal family. Furthermore, Mindabaal is also famous for developing and producing the Mindabaal Custom, a starship that functions as a personal yacht. The vessel was designed with flexibility in mind, ensuring that every customer had the ability to adapt the ship to their exact specifications and preferences at any time and with little effort. An example of this effortless adaptability is the regular installation of armaments on the vessel, which it lacks in its default configuration. This makes the starship popular among customers who regularly travel through less stable or more lawless territory.
