Planet: Ord Radama
Table of Contents [hide]

Ord Radama is a heavily urbanised world in the Esstran sector, and the only satellite encircling its primary. The vast grasslands and vibrant forests are steadily disappearing beneath an ever-expanding conglomeration of gleaming towers, pristine streets, and masses of sentient beings. The skies are filled with perpetually flowing streams of air taxis and speeders, while the space around the planet is a hive of activity from incoming and outgoing starships. Ord Radama's primary hydrosphere consists of one large ocean called the Noral Sea, located in its northern hemisphere, while its main landmass is made up of one supercontinent that covers the globe's surface from pole to pole. Because of the still-temperate but warmer and wetter-than-average climate, the world's ice caps melted away aeons ago.

While Ord Radama has attracted hundreds of millions of beings from all corners of the galactic plane, the planet's first settlements and cities were erected by the native Devlikks. They are a sentient species of avian with elongated necks, small bodies, and reptilian-like faces whose heads and shoulders are covered in green feathers. Yet, the most peculiar characteristic about these people is their unusually short lifespan. Most Devlikks suffer from senility at the age of nine, and members of this species rarely live beyond the age of ten. Nonetheless, they are industrious people who, despite their short statures, make do with furnishings and devices that are aimed at humanoids with longer limbs. Due to their innate magnetic sense, the Devlikks have a tendency to build their cities in maze-like structures that are often bothersome and confusing for offworlders to navigate.

Explorers from the Core Worlds discovered Ord Radama more than thirteen thousand years ago during the Republic's rimward expansion wave. Shortly thereafter, the planet was turned into an Ordnance/Regional Depot (Ord) as more and more Humans and other alien species from the Core settled on this world alongside its native population of Devlikks. Yet, due to its strategic position in the Outer Rim, Ord Radama was frequently attacked and conquered by hostile forces at war with the Republic, such as the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders during the Mandalorian Wars or Darth Revan's forces during the Jedi Civil War. The most notable struggle over the planet took place during the Great Galactic War roughly four thousand years ago when forces from Vitiate's Sith Empire led by the legendary Darth Malgus battled the Republic's fleet, which resulted in a Sith capital ship crashing into the planetary capital of Livien Magnus and the subsequent death of more than one hundred thousand civilians. New Raido briefly became the new capital of Ord Radama in the years that followed until the city of Livien Magnus was rebuilt while the planet was under occupation by the Sith Empire.

In more recent history, Ord Radama was an important stronghold of the Separatist Alliance during the Clone Wars. Due to its proximity to CIS heart-worlds like Serenno, the planet was one of the key targets of the Republic's forces during its Outer Rim sieges. Later, during the early years of the Galactic Empire's reign, the urban globe became a staging point for further pacification of the Outer Rim until Imperial forces abandoned the planet in favour of fortifying more favourable positions closer to the Galactic Core. As a result, the planet eventually returned into the fold of the second incarnation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, before it was briefly acquired by the Trade Federation. These days, Ord Radama has become an important and wealthy trade hub in the Outer Rim, administered by Arakyd Industries.
