DANGER

Conflict zone. Ground combat enabled. Space combat may be enabled without warning.

A conflict-ridden world, Serroco is covered with vast oceans which result in almost perpetual rainfall. The planet is divided into two continents, both of which are almost entirely comprised of humongous cavernous craters interspersed with rainforests and jungles. The planet is home to the somewhat primitive and near-human Stereb who are renowned for their oversized frames and dull wit.

The craters that one may observe on Serroco were not caused by meteor showers or natural collisions; rather they were the result of the heavy nuclear bombardment the planet experienced during the Mandalorian Wars. Formerly a Republic world, the defending Republic forces interlaced themselves among the Stereb cities that dotted its surface, believing the Mandalorian attackers would not dare destroy the cities in their entirety. They were proven wrong when the Mandalorians turned all of the Stereb settlements into glass craters with no trace left behind. The tactics the Republic employed on Serroco left a deep-seated feeling of betrayal among the local population who felt that they were wrongly used as sentient shields.

Despite the widespread destruction, life continued on the planet and many human settlements were unaffected by the bombardment; however, Serroco became largely abandoned as many potential settlers and investors were hesitant to deal with the massive nuclear fallout and radiation permeating its atmosphere. This changed only recently when Serroco drew the attention of the galaxy soon after it was rediscovered by hyperspace explorers. After an outbreak of the Derra Virus, which many attribute to the reckless scouts who first rediscovered the planet, the local government issued a planet-wide quarantine to prevent further infections. This resulted in the breakdown of civil order as food and other basic necessities became scarce, giving rise to planet-wide demonstrations and protests.

As the stockpiles of provisions grew smaller, the protests became increasingly violent. The government, which saw its support vanish almost overnight, sent out distress signals for aid in quelling the uprisings and the provision of food and medicine. This resulted in intervention by multiple governments in the galaxy, as well as paramilitary, pirate, and security groups, hoping to provide aid as well as secure the allegiance of those in power on the planet. However, this only worsened the situation, as war soon broke out between the intervening parties as well as the local vigilante groups, causing Serroco to spiral into a bloody conflict it has yet to recover from.
