The planet Nubia is a planet that has a long and proud history. When the planet was first colonized, thousands of years ago the planet was described as \"well-worth colonizing\". Although the words spoken do not sound overly encouraging, the civilizations that sprung up proved to be. Colonies were founded along the multitude of oceans that the planet is home to. These colonies proved successful in both agricultural and mineral prosperity. These colonies grew and expanded into large cities. The cities became over populated and were eventually expanded into outlying settlements.
Although the civilization on Nubia had a very promising and prosperous future it is currently in a state of depression. The depression has been in full swing for several decades. The people of Nubia no longer know the times that they once did. The expansion has ceased, there are no longer large construction projects swarming on the outskirts of the towns. While none of the people are in any danger of starvation or malnutrition, the large feasts that were something the planet was noted for no longer exist. There had at one time been plans to start colonies on other planets in the system, but those plans have been abandoned until a time when the depression shows signs of improvement.
The depression has not completely changed the status of the planet however. The people of Nubia were always noted for having a very strong sense of pride. It was well known throughout the galaxy that to cut down Nubia to one of its own was always taken as a personal insult. The people of Nubia still retain that strong sense of pride and due to its current financial situation this quite often leads to unfortunate incidents. The people of Nubia were never fond of spacing. These were a people who were always interested in staying on their beautiful home world. As things become worse there the Nubians are showing a pattern of staying on the planet even more than they used to. It turns out that as they partake in what little spacing they do, they find themselves being pointed at and looked down upon by others in the galaxy. They are always subject to little jokes and comments on how “it really was a promising place, but look at it now” this is something that has lead to many physical scenes and due to the fact many are staying at home now to avoid these situations.
Another aspect that has not been affected by the depression is the planets flora and fauna. The jungles and forest still retain a beauty that is unparalleled. The oceans still retain a natural state of cleanliness that is coveted by the people. The beaches of the planet are always kept trash free, and the sand remains a pure white. The wildlife found in jungle are of the most spectacular array of coloration and examples of adaptability. The beaches are home to some of the largest and most diverse species of fish, reptile, and aquatic mammals. The tourism industry is not large but to those who come to the planet and experience its beauty, they are visitors who will always return.
Not all of the wildlife on Nubia is as beautiful and docile as one might hope. Within the depths of the forest lies a creature that has been hunted heavily however it still remains with a large and intimidating presence. This creature is the Armadid. This immense, reptilian predator is feared throughout the galaxy. Resembling an elongated, armored bull, the Armadid was a vicious beast whose tail ended in a huge claw. Its toothy maw was protected by a pair of long, curving tusks, and each of its four legs ended in a huge, three-talon foot. Although the creature has not attacked a civilization in decades, it is still viewed as a large threat and therefore heavily hunted. The people of Nubia were also very well known for their shipbuilding technologies. These people boasted some of the best hyperdrive cores of their times. They produced excellent shield generators. And during the last decades of the old republic the city of Rordis was the site of Industrial Automation primary R5 astromech droid facility. As starships advanced and production facilities were moved to more cost effective locations, Industrial Automation has pulled out completely from the planet Nubia. This sudden loss of employment and commerce is believed to have been the cause of the start of the devastating depression the planet is experiencing.
