During the age of the of the clone wars, the Republic Commando Helmet was worn only by the elite clones. The helmet was a mark of true significance, as it was only given to those clones bred to be the best. The helmet added to the physical prowess of the clone commandos giving them a superior edge over any combatant they may face. It is for this reason they are so valuable.

The Republic Commando Helmet became outdated not long after the clone wars, when the clone troopers were reformed into stormtroopers. Through this restructure, much of the original republic commando gear was disposed of or recycled to create the new stormtrooper gear. Rare as they are, some have been found and paired with original sets of commando armour to give the owner that edge that clones fought with. In addition a few have been found by collectors and antique hunters. They are rare treasures of a long gone age and are treated as such.
