“There Is Still Time,” Say Twilight Scientists

While the vast majority of the galaxy’s sentients are occupied erecting ever taller urban towers and filling endless commerce lanes, a vast race of discovery, accumulation, and coordination has been going on behind the scenes that could potentially affect each and every one of them.

Since Day 260 of Year 18, two powerful medical research groups, the Twilight Foundation and the GenSci Institute, have been working around the clock to prove which of their theories about the Metamorphosis Plague is correct. But whomever is eventually proven correct, it’s certain that for the moment, one of the groups is the clear winner: Twilight and its vast army of supporters.

Doctor K. N. Singh, a specialist in micro-genetic engineering, applauded the efforts of the Twilight faithful. “When we went public with our request for genetic samples barely a week ago, we weren’t certain what kind of reaction we might get from the galaxy. But the response has been truly overwhelming. Sentients of all kinds and every level of authority have come forward to help us out, from the lowliest builders and first-time hunters, to leaders of vast empires. With their assistance, we’ve been able to make tremendous strides in our research. We’ve been able to attract hundreds of volunteers systems across the galaxy, eager to communicate to interested sentients the promise of the Twilight scientists: better lives through enhanced DNA.”

Indeed, it appears that the Twilight Foundation is welcoming new supporters every day. Those who at first thought their help was not needed, have found themselves welcomed with open arms, and the assurance that every participant will be equally rewarded no matter their level of donations.

What’s even more astounding is the wide range of supporters that the Twilight Foundation has been able to attract. Reports have come in that Squall Chitose, the Eidolan Pirate King, was deep in discussion with Belloq Tull, founder of the secretive I.O.N.A.N.H., while Tyr DeMeer, Daka Ishi, and Mand'alor Korlan Mereel of Mandalore were coordinating plans with Elysian Lord Chancellor Ling Reen and Triumvirate Proconsul Evan Bluvius. ANG Second in Command Kohl Straffer was overheard discussing future activities with Silus Nidor, owner of Sienar Fleet Systems, and Countess Sierra Null of the Faerytail Family. Kyran Caelius, Black Sun Vigo of Interior, was spotted giving directions to over a dozen Black Sun members, while Zorix Zoff, Father of Worms, gave orders to his own followers. Dozens of other sentients have been seen entering and exiting the Twilight headquarters over the past few days.

The coordination of so many members from such normally opposed groups is truly a rarity in this galaxy.

“We’re even accepting those who, through no fault of their own, wish to support Twilight and yet have nothing to donate,” stated Dr. Singh. “To that end, we’ve opened up our main research facility, inside the deep space asteroid at the coordinates (136, -32) in the middle of an asteroid field, at location 10.13. Once there, anyone can request to join our efforts, and will be given complete instructions on how they can participate.”

The handful of Twilight supporters who have already completed Phase II of the quest have reportedly been surprised at the generosity of their scientist-hosts: a hitherto unreleased military droid, codenamed the BN-D0 Assassin Droid, to protect them on the rest of their journeys.

When asked why a medical research group like Twilight was distributing Assassin droids to their supporters, Twilight Foundation president Alejandro Brotingo declared, “The GenSci bandits are notorious for draining every last credit out of unsuspecting sentients across this galaxy. The droids we’re giving away, freely and completely, are to be used only to protect our followers from the money-grubbing GenSci villains.”

Indeed, there have been reports of GenSci efforts to infiltrate the Twilight headquarters, and that they have met with limited success. But apparently, GenSci’s own headquarters has already been discovered and infiltrated by Twilight’s own personnel, even before GenSci leaders themselves had been able to reach their base. Estimates are that yodabytes worth of sensitive research and test results have been downloaded and already returned to the Twilight headquarters.

“No Bothans died or were even slightly wounded getting us this information,” President Brotingo declared. “It was all due to the incompetence of GenSci internal security.”

Dr. Singh wished to stress that more volunteers are still needed by Twilight. “Come with your fast ships or your old duracrete tubs. Come by yourselves or bring your whole faction. We have a role for each of you, and droids for everyone!”

Or for those who have access to the Darkness Mail net, they can send a request to Ling Reen, Daka Ishi or Belloq Tull.
