Niko Gen offers an Interview for the Ages
Posted by: Coil Each, The Exchange
Date: Year 18 Day 276 Onboard the Carrack/S-class Light Cruiser [CSF/VDF] Vagran in system Vagran (43, 5).
Niko Gen, the embattled co-founder of the GenSci Institute, called a Galactic NewsNet reporter late last night and gave an off-the-cuff, wide-ranging interview that has been called admirable but a significant mis-step for a GenSci Institute that can ill afford further miscalculations in their fight against what they claim is a massive galactic conspiracy. GenSci has pointed out the presence and distribution of BN-D0 Assassination Droids to starports throughout the galaxy and that was the central focus of the interview. But first, he attempted to explain away the furor over his famous "Ride or die!" exclamation last week.

"Let me take a moment, just a moment, to explain just what 'Ride or die' means to me. We live in a galaxy under assault, a galaxy whose people are willfully signing themselves up for a life of pain and enslavement and I can't understand it. You are who you are, don't be someone else. Don't shake it up and most importantly, stop trying to turn people into amoebas, Alejandro. He's done some terrifying experiments and I've seen the intercepted study results. They are trying to remake the galaxy over there at the Twilight Foundation and everyone's clamoring for a spot at the table. But it's not a table, it's a surgical bed that they strap you to and inject you with the Metamorphosis Plague. That's not a vaccine, that's not a cure, that's pain and suffering and I'd rather die riding the currents of the stellar wind than be a kriffing amoeba."

"I think we didn't get this through to people in our recent press conference." He continued, showing more drive than before. "The Twilight Foundation is deploying Assassin droids. A-S-S-A-S-S-I-N. Now, a history lesson, assassins were secret killers in the Battalions of Zhell from pre-modern history. They snuck into Taung camps, slew their leaders and just as soon as they appeared, they slithered back into the night like shadows. I'm not exactly enthused about disappearing and I can guarantee I'm at the top of a Twilight Foundation kill list. The GenSci Institute has the 'Rolo' or what you call the R0-L0 tank droid. They are big beefy looking droids built to take a pounding, not designed to kill you or your family. Shocking, I know, as we're trying to protect you all, not end your lives."

"Oh, and another thing, you may have seen the Twilight Foundation claims that they've got a BN-D0 Assassin droid reward for every sentient who joins up? That was a lie. The GenSci Institute is now an underdog. We're being slowly pushed out of the galaxy. In fact, I'm not sure I recognize the galaxy anymore, it is as if Twilight hegemony is something people want! We don't have enough Rolos to go around, but we'll give any new volunteers one as long as our supplies last. No fancy claims, we won't lie to you. We're realists, and we're also the best hope this galaxy has for a return to normalcy."

Niko Gen now turned the conversation back to his rival, Alejandro Brotingo, taking a more conciliatory, pleading tone: "Look, Alejandro lost his little girl and that changed him. He's not the man I went to school with anymore, he lost a daughter, but he's about to cost you yours, and that's something I can't allow to occur. He's gone off the deep end and now he's signing people up to be unknowing lab rats. You lost someone special, Alejandro, don't take away our special someone."

"But if you won't come to your senses, we'll continue to resist. Our brave people won't give up and we will continue to hamper your efforts to destroy this galaxy we've built with blood, sweat, and far too many tears! I couldn't be prouder of the Gensci Institute and their commitment to ride or die with me."

Bizfan Sci was reached for a comment on his colleague's late night musings to the press and responded by stating that the Gensci Institute was on point for their comments. GenSci appears to be a united front and is poised to stay a thorn in the side of the Twilight Foundation for months to come.
