Qel-Droma Assembly reports destruction of bandit hive
Posted by: Talak Kasra, The Krath
Date: Year 18 Day 281 Onboard the R&D IV Askaj Development Station in system Askaj (41, -446).

KrathNet Press Release: Shesharile 3

Earlier today, the Krath Empire issued a public statement regarding the outcome of the deep space expedition in the Shelsha sector. A large group of rogue elements known as ‘Mangy Mynocks’ was using the local asteroid fields as a base of operations from which they would assault unwary trade vessels moving across the frequented trade routes of the nearby Krath space. The majority of these attacks were aimed at lone freighters used by small-scale businesses to supply their goods to the Vasuuli system as well as the Neimodian Purse Worlds. These strikes were given little priority until the attackers managed to successfully assault a BFF-1 Bulk Freighter, the KMS Erubius. The Erubius was tasked with delivering building materials to assist with the development of the peripheral Krath sectors. It is reported that pirates boarded the ship and disposed of the crew by jettisoning them into space.

Shortly afterwards, the Qel-Droma Assembly began taking interest in the threat to the Empire’s security, sending several ships to map out the region and pinpoint the source of the bandit attacks. Several weeks ago, the location of the base was finally confirmed to be deep in the center of the seemingly abandoned Shelsha sector. The Lord Protector himself took part in the subsequently planned ambush on the unsuspecting bandit forces hiding inside an asteroid field. Selecting several flights from the Qel-Droma’s arsenal, Gryjiss and some of Krath’s most capable soldiers set off to Shelsha to lay waste to the Mynocks once and for all. One of the soldiers accompanying him on this trip was none other than Dahn Vassic, a veteran soldier hailing from the Resistance, who had decided to throw his lot with Krath shortly beforehand. To reward him for his exemplary behavior in the field of battle, Lord Imperator Talak Kasra has decided to award Vassic the title of ‘Warden of the North’ associated with the leadership post for the Ori’Ramikade, the Mandalorian corps of the Holy Krath Legion.

The following battle was described as ‘short and brutal’, with the bandits taking heavy losses from Krath pilots leaving the Legion Navy unscathed, save for minimal damages to individual strike craft. After a hasty uncoordinated retreat on the Mynocks’ side, the Imperial fleet plundered the asteroids used by the bandits as loot caches, retrieving most of the stolen supplies. Once the asteroid field was wiped of bandits, Lord Protector Gryjiss ordered a second strike at the remains of the Krath incursors, who had decided to escape to their back-up base located only several parsecs away. The second engagement resulted in total victory for the Krath, as well as the repossession of the KMS Erubius. A large part of the ship’s contents were already sold, nevertheless the Bulk Freighter is said to resume its mission immediately after it undergoes repair of the damage received in the naval battles.

“It’s good to see the Assembly ready to respond at a moment’s notice,” the Lord Protector stated in an interview earlier today. “They’re willing to pull their weight and protect those in need. I could hardly ask for better men. There’s going to be a lot of promotions after I get to my office.”

The Krath Intelligence Bureau is currently leading an investigation regarding the nature of those attacks, as the Mangy Mynocks seemed to target exclusively Krath targets, possibly hinting at a contract issued by one of Krath’s enemies to sabotage the Empire’s commerce.
