BREAKING NEWS: Cowardly Rebel Alliance Ambush Independent Broadcaster Nova Network
Posted by: Thali`a N`ightshade, The Black Hand
Date: Year 26 Day 143 Onboard the Ardent-class Fast Frigate [Nova] Steadfast in system Bheriz (443, 48).

[DERRA SYSTEM] — Nova Network Newsdesk

They claim to fight for peace.
They swear to protect the innocent.
They speak of liberty, honor, and justice.

But actions, as they say, speak louder than propaganda.

In a shocking act of unprovoked aggression, forces aligned with the so-called “Rebel Alliance” launched a ruthless and coordinated attack on a YT-2000 freighter transporting the owner of Nova Network, an independent, neutral news organization respected across the galaxy for its unbiased reporting and entertainment programming.

The YT-2000, transmitting under a verified civilian ID and registered with the Independent Systems Media Accord, was traversing a routine trade corridor in the Derra System when it was intercepted by Rebel forces. Without warning or communication, the vessel was besieged in a precision strike involving no fewer than three organized combat teams.

First on the scene was the notorious A-wing “Horizon” Squadron, known for its fast, harassing tactics. Seconds later, the Rebel Assault Ship (RAS) Kowak Guardian, a heavily armed missile corvette, emerged from hyperspace and unleashed a barrage of guided warheads, targeting a clearly unaggressive and lightly armed vessel. The final and most damning blow came when the CR-90 corvette RAS Commanche arrived with an additional compliment of A-wings, ensuring no possibility of escape.

There was no crime.
There was no provocation.
There was no justification.

Just blaster fire, cowardice, and the all-too-familiar rebel hypocrisy wrapped in a flag that’s beginning to look less like a banner of hope and more like the skull-and-crossbones of piracy.

Eyewitness reports and surviving sensor logs confirm that the Nova Network crew did not attempt to flee, retaliate, or issue any threat. This was not a battle—it was an execution.

Despite the Rebel Alliance's long-touted image as "freedom fighters" combating tyranny and corruption, this ambush paints a far darker reality. Today, they have shown themselves to be no better than the pirates and slavers they claim to fight. Attacking journalists—neutral, non-combatant members of the galactic community—sets a chilling precedent. What does the Rebel Alliance fear from the truth?

Nova Network has served the entire galaxy, regardless of faction, creed, or species. We broadcast music, comedy, and news with a commitment to objectivity and inclusion. We ask: Is this what the Rebel Alliance now stands for? Silencing independent voices?

For too long, the Rebel Alliance has hidden behind a manufactured myth — a fairy tale that paints them as brave heroes in a galaxy ruled by tyranny.
But if this attack on Darksky proves anything, it's that they aren’t defenders of justice.

They are the aggressors.
The raiders.
The lawless.

Operating under no jurisdiction, answerable to no court, and yet given the benefit of every doubt by a naive galaxy desperate for something — anything — to believe in.

Let’s not forget:

It wasn’t the Empire that fired on an unarmed convoy this week.
It wasn’t the Hutt Cartels who issued a kill order on a peaceful broadcaster.
It was the Rebel Alliance — the very group that claims to “stand for the people.”

And yet, where is the accountability?  What are the consequences?

The truth is simple.
The Rebel Alliance is no better than the pirate fleets they claim to despise — only better branded.
They wear the costume of virtue, but behind that symbol is the largest, best-funded, most deceptive criminal syndicate the galaxy has ever known.
Jarreth Darksky is just the latest name added to a long list of citizens caught in their crossfire — but he won’t be the last unless the galaxy opens its eyes.

The owner of Nova Network is confirmed alive, thanks to emergency escape protocols and the swift response of local patrol craft, but is currently in recovery. The freighter, however, was lost along with several loyal crew members whose names have been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

When approached for comment, Rebel Alliance High Command gave evasive responses, offering neither a credible explanation nor one that made any logical sense.

This is Nova Network News.
We don’t wave flags.
We report facts — no matter how uncomfortable they are.

We urge our listeners: Support independent media, and never let fear or violence silence the truth.  Stay vigilant. Stay loud. Stay tuned.
