This may seem a silly response but you need to look for an asteroid where somebody hasn't already built a city. I'm sure there are plenty about, look harder.

You can use the search feature of the Galatic Map section to find them;

http://rules.swcombine.com/?Search

Use the advanced feature at the bottom. I think I searched for uninhabited planets.

That would still return planets with city slabs on them, Orion.

As I said I think that was how I searched but it's been a while so I forget (We won't mention that I'm old), so I had to play with the settings a bit, but I was able to narrow the search to find a number of vacant small planets, moons, and asteroids.

Don't bother, even with the Search Filter, you'll find out all the 1x1 sized asteroids in the galaxy have been taken by someone. You can try finding the owner and buy a city from him/her, or you can share a moon or an asteroid with someone else. Or try your luck to find a hidden system.

People that joined the game much earlier in its phase probably own the cities, or they are their original owners. Some people become inactive, and all the slabs they own are left with no owner or someone to build there.

Ryan,

As I said before I found a number of apparently empty asteroids close to me. Look here, my friend. Took 2 minutes to find the following.

Sure some could be hidden cities. But this is just the unihabited 1x1's in the Farlax sector. As you can see, none appear to have cities or slabs. Yes I did have to check to manually weed out the ones with cities and empty slabs.

Yeah, they still exist, but they're getting rarer very quickly. There are probably 1/10 as many left as there were when I bought and sold several 4 months ago.

full of asteroids, they are everywhere (not just here) and I doubt they will be snagged anytime soon.

Orion... That was unexpected.. At any rate, those asteroids you mentioned will be taken over pretty soon. But if we want to open a discussion thread on this, so not here because we have answered the question, and the admins do not like us spamming the Problem Centre..

Ryan, I responded to the original poster, and substantiated my initial response as necessary. I don't believe further discussion is warranted. Apparently empty asteroids and moons do exist and are locatable via search through the galaxy map, That was my comment and I believe I demonstrated that fact.

Just commenting that I was wrong in my post - I didn't notice all those asteroids were slabbed. I am somewhat surprised, ... good thing I got 6 already, .. damn they went quick.

*coughs*

Anyway Zane, there actually are a bunch of untaken asteroids out there, as the others have already pointed out. It will never be possible for all asteroids to be slabbed, because there are simply too many of them. I would give a rough estimate and say that there are around 20 asteroid fields with averagely 50 asteroids each, meaning 1000 asteroids. Half of them are yet to be claimed. Even so, there are asteroids within regular systems as well, from which some are slabbed and some aren't.

It really depends on where you look for them.

Just for the record, there are, I think, a grand total of 2 [buildable] moons that don't have a population. I added buildable there because there are 4 or 5 that are all lava.

That's the most myopic comment I've heard in a while.

If you say so. There are so many out there, it will take years to find and slab them all (I am also talking about those in those hidden systems, those that are still being added to the galaxy, etc), and even if nearly all are slabbed, by that time combat will probably be out, and a good portion of asteroids (or cities on them) will be destroyed anyway.

But ok, perhaps I phrased it wrong. I'll rather say, not ever will all of them be slabbed at the same time.
