Bounty Hunter Helmet (Armour)
Table of Contents [hide]

Head protection has been a concern for fighting men since time immemorial. Anyone involved in armed, or even unarmed conflict recognises that a shot to the head, whether it be by a high energy bolt, a large rock or even a hard fist can be immediately disabling. Bounty hunters are no exception to this, and all except the most reckless or suicidally brave will not attempt to capture their bounties without some form of solid headgear to prevent a lucky head-shot from prematurely ending their careers. Depending on the technology level available, this head protection can range from something as rudimentary as a thick fabric turban wrapped around the head, through lined metal helmets to the latest powered protective headgear featuring sensor enhancements and breathing apparatus.

A typical bounty hunter helmet would comprise a metal or ceramic shell suited to the cranial shape of the wearer, lined with impact absorbing foam, or suspended on internal webbing designed to cushion the wearer’s skull from blows to the outer surface of the helmet. The helmet would also include some form of neck protection, perhaps an aventail of hinged plates or specially treated fabric, as well as a built in communicator to allow the wearer to have both hands free to manipulate weapons or other important implements. Visual augmentation is rarely included, as most bounty hunter prefer to have a wide field of vision to take in potential threats, as well as to scan large crowds quickly. Whatever the final form, bounty hunter helmets are often also crafted to frighten and demoralise bounty marks in order to reduce the odds of armed resistance.
