Planet: Tython
Table of Contents [hide]

The planet Tython is as enigmatic as it is ancient, its name woven intricately into the fabric of galactic history, but not always remembered or widely known. Nestled within the volatile and dangerous Deep Core, its system is accessible by only a few hyperspace routes, the Koros-Tython hyperlane being the most stable one. It is this fact that has allowed Tython to be a secluded haven to many throughout its venerable history, most notably to those with a deep connection to the Force.

Extending far further towards the planetary equator than on comparable terrestrial worlds, Tython’s poles are dominated by widespread stretches of ice and snow, with jagged rocky formations dotting the hiemal landscape. Explorers navigating these oft treacherous crags have reported encountering massive geometric depressions, with scholars suggesting these distinct geographic anomalies are the ancient landing sites of the fabled Tho Yor starships, which were vast octahedron vessels that brought the first Force-sensitives to Tython roughly 36,000 years ago. These blizzard-stricken reaches are the domain of various indigenous predators, where packs of ferocious howlrunners hunt these stretches for precious and scarce food, while avoiding the occasional solitary wampa wandering these frozen wastes.

Flowing from the glacial poles, deep blue oceans dominate the western hemisphere, their waters crashing against coastlines that bleed into dense equatorial jungles and fetid swamps. This verdant stretch represents a vibrant resurgence of Tython’s ancient ecosystem, yet it is far from a peaceful haven, as the lingering energies of the Force Wars have deeply corrupted the soil and water. The Dark Side's continued hold over the planet has twisted these sprawling swamplands into highly dangerous, predatory zones, where buried deep beneath the suffocating canopy explorers have spotted the crumbling, vine-choked masonry of early inhabiting civilizations, such as the Rakata or the ancient Je’daii, their timeworn architecture slowly being devoured by the unrelenting, aggressive flora.

In stark contrast to the oceans and ice, the southeastern quadrant reveals a volatile expanse of intense volcanic activity and flowing magma fields. The desolate wastelands bordering this fiery region bear the unmistakable geographical scars of ancient orbital bombardments and heavy Sith corruption, where scattered amidst the ash, one might find the ruined foundations of what was once the Jedi Temple built after the Sacking of Coruscant in 3653 BCGT, or the dread-inspiring, obsidian remnants of the Sith Lord Belia Darzu’s fortress. These ruined structures have become part of the planet's geology, standing as silent testaments to the endless wars that transformed much of Tython's surface into a jagged rocky wasteland.

In present times, Tython is not entirely abandoned to the elements, as small pockets of civilization dot the landscape, currently operating under the governance of the Galactic Empire. These modern urban centers are carefully established to avoid the most dangerous ruins and the heavily corrupted equatorial swamps. For the Imperial inhabitants living within these scattered cities, Tython remains a world demanding constant vigilance, where the physical shadows of galactic history loom over this beautiful, yet remarkably perilous celestial orb.
