The name "Merenach" comes from ancient Lorellian for "Great Red Spot", as the natives of Lorell saw Merenach as a great red spot in their night sky during the time of year in which it is visible from Lorell. The surface of Merenach is somewhat unremarkable, consisting of mainly rock, which is now covered with cities.
