Planet: Kenosha
Table of Contents [hide]

The planet of Kenosha is a world covered beneath layers of vibrant urbanscapes. Despite their heavily populated nature, they lack any form of aesthetic beauty or glamour. Neon lights are placed haphazardly on the surfaces of the often grey and rust-coloured skyscrapers, while barely orderly lines of speeders and airtaxis fly through clouds tinged with the hue of pollution from the smokestacks in the dangerously unregulated industrial zones. It's a stark contrast to Kenosha’s previous incarnation as a world known for its breath-taking cliffs, rocky plains, verdant forests, and jungles teeming with a plethora of lifeforms, both native and non-indigenous to the planet. These days, only the critters that had adapted to live in the urban jungles of this city-world in its distant past remain, even if barely surviving.

Kenosha began as a simple colony world funded by Neimoidian and Duros corporate interests and was founded during the original settling of the Expansion Region as part of the Republic’s Great Manifest Period. Its magnificent cliffs were a popular tourist destination for many millennia, until the beauty of this world began to be marred when shady corporations from the Outer Rim and Hutt Worlds claimed a foothold on the planet around five millennia ago. Ever since, rapid urban expansion and uncontrolled industrialisation have severely deteriorated the environment. The wealthy elites of Kenosha abandoned their homeworld in droves, while an influx of the poor, unfortunate, and criminally inclined drastically altered the planetary demographics.

Billions call Kenosha their home, albeit most likely unwillingly. While the Duros and Neimodian elites have long abandoned what was once their colony world, their less fortunate kin and their descendants have remained on the planet, often as the owners of dingy bars or shady corporations funded by the criminal underworld. Humans form the dominant demographic as they do on many worlds, closely followed by other widely dispersed species such as Twi’leks, Rodians, and Nikto. Due to its proximity to Tynna, Tynnans are a regular but infrequent sight on the sticky, root-covered streets of Kenosha, while Hutts are the most uncommon but undoubtedly present demographic minority on the planet. Aside from its standard population, this rough and brutal world in the Tynnan sector also attracts a plethora of visitors of the same mean calibre, as over recent centuries the planet has become a haven for bounty hunters and mercenaries. Rival groups within these often shady professions have staked their claims to various parts of the rugged city spires that make up Kenosha’s surface, with the Bounty Hunters Guild having a controlling interest in this world’s affairs and economy.
