Fiddanl is a barren and rocky planet located within the Yavin system of the Gordian Reach sector. The constantly-shifting continental plates have forced rivers of lava to the planet's surface and have resulted in a toxic atmosphere. The lava rivers, deadly storms, and a burning landscape stricken by large craters are responsible for Fiddanl's reputation as the "dead planet" of the Yavin system.

The planet's dangerous landscape has led to the catastrophic death of most living things, leaving the planet with areas containing strong connections to the dark side of the force. This widespread destruction and death occurred when the planet was pushed out of its normal orbit by a large solar flare released from the Yavin sun. This event caused massive earthquakes across Fiddanl, cracking its crust and bringing lava to its surface, which released toxic gases in the atmosphere. These eruptions and gases caused the extinction of virtually all life.

Fiddanl's atmosphere is extremely toxic to most forms of life and, considering its distance from most major trade routes, most of the galaxy is uninterested in the planet. Those willing to brave the planet's surface, however, quickly learn that it still holds many secrets in the form of natural ores and crystals.
