The BARCs (Biker Advanced Recon Commandos), the precursors to the Galactic Empire's Scout Troopers, were highly specialized Clone Troopers trained to handle new equipment used by the Galactic Republic, specifically the high-speed BARC Speeders. Their armour is a variant of the Phase-II Clone Trooper Armour, albeit with several improvements and modifications. The most notable difference between the two sets of armour is the chest plate; BARC armour typically has an ARC command sash over the right-hand side and its left shoulder pad is typically colored red. While there is an obvious cosmetic difference, what sets the BARC Armour apart is the use of a very durable, lightweight plastoid alloy during its production, drastically reducing its overall weight while maintaining its durability. This has an added effect of making the soldier's more streamlined and aerodynamic while using their speeders, in addition to increasing their mobility on foot.

After the fall of the Old Republic, the BARC Armour was eventually phased out along with all other versions of the Phase-II Clone Trooper Armour. Most of the remaining suits were dismantled and used to produce the Galactic Empire's Storm Trooper Armour and its numerous variants. However, a small number still remain scattered around the galaxy, though their authenticity is often subject to debate.
