The standard trooper’s rifle carried by the clones of the Grand Army of the Republic in the Clone Wars, the DC-15A blaster was a remarkable weapon. Manufactured by BlasTech Industries, it was capable of serving as a battle rifle, sniper rifle, light support weapon and even an area denial weapon - able to perform feats that few, if any contemporary, or even more modern weapons, are able to accomplish.

While the weapon is long and quite heavy for a general service rifle, the DC-15A’s Xciter and actuating blaster module are capable of generating astonishingly focused blaster bolts – so much so that, when mounted on a tripod or similar stabilising device, the bolts still possess sufficient to kill and unarmoured target at a distance of ten kilometres. Achieving accurate hits on a human sized target at this distance is not possible, even with the rifle’s in-built scope, due to the limitations of magnification technology and the curve of a planet’s surface when the rifle is used on-world. However, multiple rifles can be set up to barrage an area, making movement through it hazardous in the extreme. The weapon can also fire rapidly, although accuracy will be almost impossible to maintain.

Despite these capabilities, the rifles were decommissioned at the end of the Clone Wars, in favour of lighter, more agile weapons such as the E-11 blaster rifle. Most of these decommissioned weapons were scrapped, although some few have made it onto the black market and can now be found in the hands of bounty hunters and other criminal types throughout the galaxy.
