The ghost box is a rare device coveted by spacers who delve into space's deep, empty voids. It is frequently found in the hands of the eclectic and solitary denizens of old trading stations. The Ghostbox is crafted and carried as a defence against the legendary, if not entirely mythical, Starweirds that are rumoured to live between systems out in the entirely lightless grips of deep space, hunting any living soul with a connection to the Force.

At the heart of the Ghostbox is a core of Adegan crystal, revered by the Jedi for a millennium as a potent conduit for channelling the Force. When housed in a cage of gold-coloured Osmiridium, Adegan is capable of collecting and storing a small quantity of the mysterious energy field created by life that binds the galaxy together. With the press of a large button on the face of the box, the Adegan crystal rapidly discharges the stored life essence like a capacitor. Starweirds, drawn to the stored energy within the Ghostbox, are often completely overwhelmed by the sudden discharge of energy.
